The final game of the Week 14 NFL slate brings us a key matchup between playoff contenders: Eagles vs. Chargers. The East/West tilt kicks off at So-Fi Stadium on ESPN tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET.

The Chargers, who sit at 8-4, have put themselves in a good spot for the AFC playoffs by winning four of their last five and sit in second place in the AFC West, two games ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs and two games behind the division-leading Denver Broncos.

The Eagles, on the other hand, are slightly reeling. They have lost two straight games to the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears, although they still lead the NFC East by 1.5 games over the Cowboys.

Let’s take a look at our Eagles vs. Chargers prediction and picks for Monday Night Football, including the PrizePicks projections that you should be paying attention to.

PrizePicks offers several intriguing picks on Team Picks to win real money if you're right. Now let's how Philly and L.A. stack up.

Philadelphia Eagles Preview vs. Chargers

If you ask an Eagles fan whether they feel comfortable with the season so far, even at 8-4, most might say the sky is falling. That’s how most fans (this writer included) are feeling after tough back-to-back losses to the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles have scored only 15 points over the last six quarters. People have theorized all season long that the defending Super Bowl champions are broken, and we have continued to get mounting evidence that they’re right.

Heading into this game, the Eagles need a burst of positivity. A much-maligned running game that has rushed for only 108 yards a game, 22nd in the NFL, could get a nice boost against a Chargers run defense that ranks 25th in Run Stop Win Rate, per ESPN. The Eagles could struggle a bit without star OT Lane Johnson, but after a bumpy campaign which he sits as fantasy's RB18, Philly's RB Saquon Barkley might be due for a breakout, and the Eagles could lean on him here.

Los Angeles Chargers Preview vs. Eagles

The Chargers come into this game on a hot streak, but have a crucial injury situation to pay attention to: QB Justin Herbert’s broken left hand. The star QB had surgery on the hand early in the week and subsequently returned to practice, but his dependability on handoffs and snaps will be something to watch closely tonight.

RB Omarion Hampton also returns from injury this week for the first time in over two months. The first-round rookie RB had a small fracture in his ankle, but returned to practice last week and has had no setbacks during that time, and the Chargers activated him.

There has been no word on what his workload will be, but some have surmised that he’ll split work with RB Kimani Vidal, who had several solid performances in Hampton’s absence.

A big matchup in this game could be a battered Eagles’ defensive line versus the Chargers’ offensive line, which has been super banged-up after both star OTs Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt were lost for the season. After allowing 250+ rushing yards to the Bears last week, the Eagles need to be careful not to let Hampton and Vidal run wild on them.

Eagles vs. Chargers Same-Game Picks for PrizePicks

Here are two top Eagles vs. Chargers same-game player picks for Week 14, spotlighting key projections to watch for RB Omarion Hampton and WR DeVonta Smith.

You can choose More or Less on these projections on PrizePicks — along with plenty of other Birds and Bolts — for a chance to win real money this NFL season.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith Projections vs. Chargers: 21.5 Longest Reception

Lost in the shuffle of WR A.J. Brown’s bounce-back over the last few weeks has been Smith keeping things steady as he usually does. The fifth-year Eagles WR has over 800 yards on the season and has continually played at a high level, despite not producing gaudy stat lines in part due to Philly's system.

Smith now gets a Chargers secondary that plays the third-highest rate of zone coverage, per PFF, and zone is Smith’s specialty. He has continually linked up with QB Jalen Hurts on deep shots on season, with a 22+ yard catch in seven of 12 games.

Chargers RB Omarion Hampton Projections vs. Eagles: 9.5 Fantasy Score

Hampton makes his long-awaited return for the Bolts after missing much of the season with a fractured ankle. Before that, however, he had just started to click with the offense and had at least 9.5 fantasy points in each of his last three games.

The rookie now draws a matchup with a beleaguered Eagles rush defense that has struggled to defend the run this season, ranking 27th in Run Stop Win Rate. In addition, they lost star DT Jalen Carter for this game and possibly the rest of the regular season, as Carter had surgery on both of his shoulders this week.

Hampton was active in the passing game as well before his injury, averaging 4 catches and just under 30 yards in the receiving game. The Eagles have allowed the sixth-most receiving yards per game to RBs, per Lineups, and with Herbert nursing his hand injury, the star QB could look to get the ball out quicker to his RBs.
