UConn vs. Michigan Prediction, Spread, Over/Under for National Championship Game
Death, taxes, and UConn playing for the national title. For the third time in the last four seasons, UConn is one game away from winning the national title. A win would be the school’s seventh national title, something only UCLA (11) and North Carolina (8) have done over the course of basketball history.
Coach Dan Hurley’s squad lost in the Second Round to eventual champion Florida last year and is 18-1 overall in the last four NCAA Tournaments.
After dispatching No. 15 seed Furham, No. 7 seed UCLA, and No. 3 seed Michigan State, UConn stunned No. 1 seed Duke and the entire basketball world with the last-second steal and miracle three-pointer to complete a 19-point comeback and earn a 73-72 win.
The Huskies have never lost in the title game, with a perfect 6-0 record.
The Michigan Wolverines started the season 25-1 to ascend to No. 1 in the country before a five-point loss in Washington, D.C. to Duke. Michigan won its next six games to win the Big Ten regular season title, before losing to Purdue in the Conference Tournament final.
The Wolverines are the first team in NCAA history to win 5+ tourney games and scoring 90+ in all of them. After dispatching Howard and Saint Louis by 21 and 23, then knocked off No. 4 Alabama by 13, No. 6 Tennessee by 33, and Arizona by 18 to earn a spot in the school’s seventh title game.
The Wolverines are 1-5 all-time in the championship game, defeating Seton Hall in 1989 for the school’s lone title, but they have the momentum to claim their second on Monday night.
