Western Michigan vs. Eastern Illinois Prediction, Tuesday MAC Picks

  • The Broncos overcame an 0-3 start in non-conference play to win six of their next seven games.
  • WMU’s lone conference loss came to Miami-Ohio, 26-17, on October 25, as the Broncos were outscored, 17-0 in the fourth quarter.
  • Following that meltdown, the Broncos rebounded for a pair of one-score home triumphs over Central Michigan and Ohio.
  • In five of the last seven games, Western Michigan allowed 14 or fewer points.
  • The Eagles finished 2-6 in the MAC last season, but are seeking their four conference wins for the first time since 2023.
  • Eastern Michigan held Ball State out of the end zone in a 24-9 road victory last Saturday. The Eagles limited the Cardinals to 13 first downs and 225 yards of offense.
  • Last season, Western Michigan knocked off Eastern Michigan, 26-18, marking their second straight win in the series after four consecutive losses.

Western Michigan Broncos

  • The Broncos have struggled to throw the ball, sitting 120th in EPA/pass. Amazingly, there are four other MAC teams that rank below WMU in this category out of 136 FBS schools.
  • It’s a different story for the defense, which ranks eighth in the nation in EPA/pass.
  • Another area that the Western Michigan defense excels in is shutting down drives. The Broncos are sixth in opponent’s third-down success at 33.8%.

Eastern Michigan Eagles

  • The Eagles place below 100th in the country in several different defensive metrics according to GameonPaper.com. EMU fell to 117th in EPA/rush after ranking 36th in 2024.
  • Offensively, Eastern Michigan sits in the top half of the country in both EPA categories. The Eagles are 53rd in EPA/pass and 47th in EPA rush.
  • At home, Eastern Michigan is averaging 24.2 points per game, compared to 24.5 points per contest on the road.

Eastern Michigan QB Noah Kim Projection: 203.5 Passing Yards

  • The senior posted a career-high 2,490 yards after throwing for a combined 1,597 yards in his first three seasons at Michigan State and Coastal Carolina.
  • Kim has eclipsed 210 passing yards in each of the past four games, including a 229-yard effort in a 24-9 victory over Ball State on November 15.
  • It has been a steady improvement for Kim, who was held to below 200 passing yards in each of his first three conference games.
  • Western Michigan has allowed one quarterback to bypass 204 passing yards in four road games this season.

Western Michigan RB Jalen Buckley Projection: 82.5 Rushing Yards

  • The Aurora, Illinois native compiled 1,003 rushing yards in his sophomore season, but the senior is well below that output with 566 yards in 2025.
  • Buckley busted out for a season-high 133 rushing yards in last Tuesday’s 35-19 blowout of Northern Illinois.
  • It marked the second 100+ yard rushing performance for Buckley this season, the only two times Buckley has broken past 83 rushing yards.
  • Eastern Michigan has yielded more than 100 yards to an opposing running back in four straight home games.

Eastern Michigan WR Nick Devereaux Projection: 45.5 Receiving Yards

  • Devereaux leads the Eagles with 503 receiving yards and 6 TDs after grabbing 1 reception in 2024.
  • The top performance for the senior came in a 28-21 home defeat to Ohio on October 25. He hauled in 5 catches for 121 yards and 2 TDs, including a 38-yard score on EMU’s opening drive.
  • Devereaux looks to rebound from his third game of getting held to 1 catch. He picked up 15 yards in a 24-9 win over Ball State on November 15.
  • The Michigan native seeks his fourth output of more than 76 receiving yards at home. Western Michigan has given up at least 60 receiving yards to four different wideouts on the road.
