Fresh off a blowout with over the San Francisco 49ers, Sean Payton’s Broncos will look to keep the momentum rolling. Jonathan Gannon’s Cardinals also won to open the preseason, taking down the Chiefs last Saturday.

Cardinals K Chad Ryland — 1.5 PAT Made
Chad Ryland was excellent in the Cardinals’ preseason opener against Kansas City, nailing both of his extra point attempts and a pair of field goals. Given there’s no other placekicker on the roster, he’s a virtual lock to receive reps again on Saturday.
In his debut season with Arizona, Ryland connected on 87.5% of his field goal tries, and he made all but one extra point attempt, going 26-for-27. The 25-year-old is looking to maintain that consistency in 2025, starting with the preseason.
The Broncos defense gave up only nine points vs. the 49ers last week, while the Cardinals put up 20.
Broncos QB Jarrett Stidham — 94.5 Pass Yards
All three Broncos QBs saw the field last weekend against San Francisco in NFL preseason Week 1. Stidham led the way with 35 snaps, good for 45% of QB opportunities.
He was followed by third-stringer Sam Ehlinger (23 snaps) and starter Bo Nix (19), but Stidham also led the way from a production standpoint, going 14-of-15 passing for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Broncos RB Tyler Badie — 24.5 Rush Yards
The Broncos’ running back room is super-crowded, both a blessing and a curse for those fighting for roster spots... like Tyler Badie.
Last weekend, the 5-foot-8 mighty-mite racked up 32 rushing yards on 5 carries. He did so on just 13 snaps, which trailed fellow halfbacks Audric Estime (17) and Blake Watson (19).
Just one preseason ago in Denver, Badie had 13 rush attempts for 46 yards.
Are Cardinals Playing Starters vs. Broncos Tonight?
The Cardinals and Broncos conducted a joint practice on Thursday. This gave both sides an opportunity to scout out the opponent before Saturday’s contest.
Entering the game, Payton called Arizona’s bluff and said Gannon wouldn’t play his starters. That’s since been all but confirmed by local media outlets, so don’t anticipate Kyler Murray getting reps in the preseason outing.
Are Broncos Playing Starters vs. Cardinals Tonight?
In the same media session, Payton revealed his plans for his top players. The veteran head coach said “a few” first-stringers will be on pitch counts but for the most part, his stars will watch from the sideline.
Payton has bigger plans in store for the preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints. For now, he wants to see how his backups — and young players — fare in game action.
