PSG vs. Liverpool Prediction for Champions League Quarterfinals Match – April 8

Liverpool is enduring their worst season in over a decade, with Saturday’s defeat giving them 15 losses in all competitions. Their only win in the last five matches was a win over Galatasaray in the Round of 16, winning 4-0 to overturn a one-goal deficit at Anfield.

This PSG side will be a far sterner test. They’re spoiled for riches in attack and are almost fully healthy. While FW Bradley Barcola will miss out due to a sprained ankle, and MF Fabian Ruiz is still "injured", they still have one of the best starting XIs in all of Europe and a loaded bench.

PSG rested many of their key players on Friday in a 3-1 victory over Toulouse, and they’re now 9-1-2 over their last 12 matches. They tore Chelsea to shreds in the first leg of the Round of 16 match, winning 5-2 at home, and will hope to replicate that against this shaky Liverpool back line.

The Reds badly miss GK Alisson at the back, as both he and RB Conor Bradley will be absent on Wednesday. MF Wataru Endo’s injury also leaves them thin in the center of the pitch, where Man City’s midfield overran them nearly the entire match.

That could happen again in this match. PSG MF Vitinha is a metronome at the base of the midfield, and he and Joao Neves could overwhelm the likes of Ryan Gravenberch.

PSG’s 8.0 passes per defensive action (PPDA) are the fewest of any team in the competition this season, which is how they’ve managed to keep a competition-high 67.4% possession.

The attacking trio of Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be relishing the chance to run at Ibrahima Konate and Virgil Van Dijk. Liverpool have lost the second-highest rate of ground duels of any team in the Champions League this campaign.

Helping them will be the overlapping runs from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes as they put pressure on Liverpool’s vulnerable fullbacks. That could open up some counter-attacking lanes for Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike to punish.
