Week 4 CFB DFS Picks for Saturday, 9/20: John Mateer, Joey Aguilar, & More

College football is now in Week 4; this is the time when the season gets tough, as we get into conference play. Most of the Power Four teams move on from the softer schedule and play conference games that mean more for the Playoff seeding.

Below, we'll break down the top picks across Saturday's college football DFS slate for Week 4, including the top picks at QB, RB, and WR for PrizePicks real money CFB DFS game.

Several of the players featured this week are either facing a conference opponent or another Power Four program, including QB John Mateer’s first SEC conference matchup as No. 11 Oklahoma battles No. 22 Auburn at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Miami QB Carson Beck Projection: 272.5 Passing Yards

Florida vs. No. 4 Miami Pick – 7:30 p.m. ET

  • Mateer is seventh in the nation in passing yards (944).

Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar Projection: 278.5 Passing Yards

UAB vs. No. 15 Tennessee Pick – 12:45 p.m. ET

  • Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar is sixth in the nation by averaging 320.0 passing yards per game.
  • Aguilar threw for 371 yards last week against Georgia, tying NFL Hall of Famer and former Tennessee QB Peyton Manning for the most passing yards by a Volunteer in a game against the Bulldogs.
  • Aguilar is second in the FBS in completion percentage (69.2%) on deep passes (balls thrown 20+ yards) and third in passing yards (369).
  • UAB is last in the FBS in passing yards allowed per completion (18.0). 
  • UAB has allowed the seventh-most completions of 20+ yards (11).
  • In Week 2, UAB allowed 168 passing yards to Navy, who is 125th in passing yards per game (131.0). Navy also had a season-high 225 passing yards in their meeting last year against UAB.

Miami WR Malachi Toney Projection: 24.5 Longest Reception

Florida vs. No. 4 Miami Pick – 7:30 p.m. ET

  • Miami WR Malachi Toney leads the team in receptions (18), receiving yards (228), and receiving touchdowns (4).
  • Toney has a 20+ yard reception in each game this season.
  • He lines up in the slot on 90.8% of offensive plays and is 11th in the FBS in yards after catch when lined up in the slot (120) and second in first downs (12).

  • Texas Tech WR Coy Eakin is leading the team with 229 receiving yards.
  • Eakin is eighth in the FBS in yards per catch when lined up as a slot receiver (20.4).
  • Eakin has 105 yards after the catch on 12 receptions when lined up as a slot receiver. Only four other players in the FBS have more yards with fewer receptions.
  • Utah CB Jackson Bennee primarily lines up against slot receivers. He’s allowed 60 yards after the catch this season, the 16th-most in the FBS, per PFF.

Oklahoma WR Deion Burks Projection: 65.5 Receiving Yards

No. 22 Auburn vs. No. 13 Oklahoma Pick – 3:30 p.m. ET

  • Oklahoma WR Deion Burks leads the team with 17 catches, 225 receiving yards, and 2 receiving TDs.
  • In Oklahoma’s only other matchup against a Power Four opponent this season (Michigan), Burks caught 4-of-8 passes for at least 15 yards.
  • Auburn is tied for 91st in 20+ yard receptions allowed (10)
  • Burks will line up against Auburn CB Jay Crawford, who has allowed 12.3 yards per reception this season, per PFF.

Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy Projection:

South Carolina vs. No. 23 Missouri Pick – 7 p.m. ET

  • Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy is leading the FBS with 28 missed tackles forced and second with 462 rushing yards, per PFF.
  • Hardy’s 8.1 yards per carry is second amongst running backs with a minimum of 40 carries.
  • Hardy is second in the FBS with six carries of 20 yards or more.
  • His 250 rushing yards last week against Louisiana marked the seventh-highest single-game total in Missouri history.
  • South Carolina is 96th in the FBS in rush rate over expected (4.8%).

  • Florida is 31st in rush rate over expected (-5.6%).
  • In Miami’s 41-17 victory over Florida last season, the Hurricanes led by at least 14 points throughout the entire second half, yet still passed the ball (36 pass attempts) more often than they ran it (33 carries).
  • The majority of Fletcher Jr.’s runs are up the middle to the right of the center (MR). That is where Florida EDGE George Gumbs Jr. lines up and is fifth in PFF run defense grade (90.4).
