Best College Football Anytime TD Scorer Picks for PrizePicks – Friday, October 2

Rivalry matchups are crucial in the Power Four because winning your conference can earn you a playoff spot. That’s why even in October, games like Penn State vs. Northwestern and Pittsburgh vs. Virginia Tech could have an impact later in the season.

With these matchups being so important, teams are determined to find the end zone. This is a great opportunity to single out the players who could score.

Anytime TDs on PrizePicks include rushing, receiving, recoveries, and returns. PrizePicks often list Anytime TDs as Demons and Goblins, meaning users can only select "More." For standard projections, users can select “More” or “Less.”

Demons are tougher to win but are the only way to get higher payouts. Meanwhile, Goblins are lower than a standard projection, but they are easier to win, so there is a lower payout.

All stats are via CFB Stats, PFF, and Game on Paper unless otherwise noted.

Pittsburgh vs. Virginia Tech Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 7 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh RB Damon Ferguson Jr.: 1.5 Anytime TDs (Demon)

Pitt is coming off its second game in which it scored 59 points. While that's a fantastic accomplishment, those performances came against Group of Six Miami (OH) and FCS program Bucknell. In the Panthers’ other two games, they combined for 39 points against Central Florida and Syracuse.

In those high-scoring affairs, the offense was driven predominantly by Pittsburgh QB Mason Heintschel, who threw for a combined 863 passing yards and 13 TDs compared to a combined 335 yards and no TDs vs. UCF and Syracuse.

The Panthers have relied on RB Damon Ferguson Jr. against tougher opponents. He had 30 total carries against Syracuse and Central Florida but just 15 total carries against Miami (OH) and Bucknell.

Virginia Tech has been excellent against the run, ranking in the 89th percentile for yards allowed per game (83.2). However, it's struggling in the red zone, sitting in the 30th percentile for red-zone conversion rate (88.9%) and allowing 3 rushing TDs inside the 20-yard line.

Add Damon Ferguson Jr. + Pittsburgh to win to your PrizePicks lineup now.

Virginia Tech TE Luke Reynolds: 0.5 Anytime TDs (Demon)

Look how one move can change the perception of a college program. Virginia Tech hasn’t won more than seven games since 2019, but with former Penn State head coach James Franklin leading the Hokies and backed by NIL money, the program could be a contender again.

VT is off to its first 4-0 start since 2017, including a conference win over Boston College.

The Hokies' spread offense emphasizes the run and relies on its tight end in the passing game. Luke Reynolds has excelled as the primary target and is emerging as one of the country’s top TEs.

He enters the week leading all FBS TEs in receptions (30) and TDs (4). Franklin brought him over from Penn State, and he's already surpassed his previous career highs in targets and receptions.

On paper, it looks like a tough matchup: Pitt hasn’t allowed a TD to a TE this season, but it hasn’t faced an offense with a TE who's the primary receiver. No TE the Panthers have faced has more than 6 receptions.

Reynolds accounts for 30% of his team's completions and is the Hokies’ go-to player in the red zone.

Add Luke Reynolds + Virginia Tech to win to your PrizePicks lineup now.

Penn State vs. Northwestern TD Scorer Prediction – 8 p.m. ET

Northwestern QB Aidan Chiles: 0.5 Anytime TDs (Demon)

Can Northwestern be competitive in the Big Ten? The Wildcats nearly knocked off defending champion Indiana, losing 29-23.

The Wildcats will be tested by three ranked opponents: #15 Oregon, #14 Iowa, and #5 Ohio State. If they can get through that gauntlet and grab some wins, they could compete for a conference championship.

Northwestern QB Aidan Chiles doesn’t throw often, ranking 115th in pass attempts (75), but when he does, he is efficient. This season, he has a 70.7% completion rate, and his 10.8 yards per attempt leads all Big Ten QBs.

On paper, 20 rushing yards on 30 attempts looks terrible for Chiles, but a large share of those yards were lost on sacks. He’s been sacked 7 times for 63 yards. More importantly, he’s rushed for a TD in each game.

All of his rushing TDs have come in the red zone, and Northwestern's 14 red-zone trips are the 10th-most in the nation, with each opportunity resulting in points.

The Nittany Lions are one of 11 FBS teams to allow points on all of their opponents’ red-zone opportunities. Three of the four red-zone scores came from the ground, and two were by QBs.

Add Aidan Chiles + Northwestern to win to your PrizePicks lineup now.
