Following uneven results ever since her wrist injury in the spring, Amanda Anisimova entered the Cincinnati Open with many questions, but she’s now strung together three consecutive victories for the first time since February.

Over the last two rounds, she defeated a red-hot Alexandra Eala and Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova. Her straight-sets win over Noskova was particularly impressive, as the American didn’t even face a single break point.

Despite Anisimova’s rise in form, she’ll get a tough test against Jessica Pegula.

Pegula has already amassed an 8-2 record on hard courts this summer, which includes finishing runner-up in Washington earlier this month.

She’s produced strong results on hard courts all season, going 27-6 while reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open and winning a title in Dubai. Further, the 32-year-old is 11-4 vs. top-20 opponents on the surface this year.

Pegula has dominated the head-to-head against Anisimova, too, winning all five of their meetings, including two victories in 2026.

While Anisimova’s improved play is showing hints of the player who reached two major finals last season, Pegula’s consistency and dominance in this matchup probably can’t be overlooked.

Tennis Abstract’s Elo ratings rank Pegula as the fourth-best player on hard courts, while Anisimova is 18th. The result is a projected 72.5% win probability in favor of Pegula.
