We’re into the Cincinnati Open third round on Monday, and one match to circle is tonight’s top-20 battle between Alexandra Eala and Amanda Anisimova.
Eala has become one of the most popular draws on tour, and she’s been a force this summer, winning her first WTA title in Washington and notching several high-profile victories. Anisimova, meanwhile, has struggled to find consistency since returning from a wrist injury in May, but the world No. 10 remains extremely dangerous if she gets on a roll.
Below, we’ll break down our Alexandra Eala vs. Amanda Anisimova prediction, including recent form, match analysis, and a PrizePicks pick. The match is slated to start at 8:30 p.m. ET on Tennis Channel.

Following her title run in Washington, Alexandra Eala climbed to a career-high No. 20 in the rankings, and she now enters this match with an 8-1 record on North American hard courts this summer.
Her lone loss during that stretch was a 6-4, 6-0 clunker against Belinda Bencic at the Canadian Open, snapping a seven-match winning streak. Fatigue may have finally caught up with Eala after playing so many matches with little to no rest between Washington and Toronto.
Eala should be much fresher on Monday night. She not only had five full days to recover before her first match in Cincinnati, but she faced little adversity on Saturday, taking a 6-1, 3-0 lead over Elena-Gabriela Ruse before her opponent retired due to injury.
As a reminder, the 21-year-old Filipina has performed well against stiff competition dating back to the grass swing, going 6-3 over her last nine matches versus top-20 players. In Washington alone, she took down Elina Svitolina, Naomi Osaka, and Jessica Pegula.
All of this is to say that Amanda Anisimova could have her hands full tonight despite being the favorite and higher-ranked player.
After missing roughly two months due to a wrist injury, Anisimova returned at the French Open, but she hasn’t won more than two consecutive matches in any of her last four tournaments.
Anisimova coasted in her first Cincinnati match 6-2, 6-3 over world No. 50 Zeynep Sonmez, which is a promising sign she could be finding her form. The American was a finalist at both Wimbledon and the US Open in 2025, so we know what she’s capable of when at the peak of her powers.
Still, Eala comes in with ever-growing confidence, and her passionate fan base will effectively neutralize any home-court advantage Anisimova might have enjoyed. Anisimova is also just 1-6 against top-20 opponents this season, including an 0-2 mark since returning from her injury.
If the American doesn't bring her A-game, she could find herself in trouble against a surging opponent.

Note: In PrizePicks tennis fantasy scoring, players earn 10 points to start (match played), games won/lost are +1/-1, sets won/lost at +3/-3, aces are 0.5, while double faults count for -0.5.
Although Eala is the slight underdog, Tennis Abstract’s Elo ratings rank her 13th on hard courts, compared with Anisimova at No. 18. Those ratings give Eala a 56.7% chance of winning.
Before her loss to Bencic in Toronto, Eala scored 17.5, 20, 20.5, 21.5, 17.5, 19.5, and 16 fantasy points over her seven-match win streak. That stretch included three victories over top-15 players, as well as one over defending Washington champion Leylah Fernandez.
Anisimova is 7-6 versus top-50 players on hard courts this season. Only one of those wins came against an opponent ranked inside the top 30, Emma Raducanu, someone who's struggled with health and fitness issues all season and is now ranked No. 59.
Double faults have been an issue for Anisimova of late, as she's tallied 7, 9, and 5 over her three hard-court matches this summer.
