White Sox vs. Guardians Prediction, Winner Payout, Over/Under for ALDS Game 2 – Monday, October 5

The White Sox beat the Guardians in seven of 13 regular-season matchups before the ALDS got underway. The Guardians did come away victorious in two of the final three meetings in mid-September, which took place at Progressive Field.

In Saturday’s Game 1, Murakami got the scoring started in the fourth inning after 3B Miguel Vargas singled to lead off the frame. SS Colson Montgomery added an RBI double in the seventh inning to give the White Sox some added insurance.

Prior to the ALDS, the White Sox racked up 13 runs in two games against the Astros. Chicago SP Anthony Kay, who will start Game 2 of the ALDS, earned the win in the series-clinching Game 2 against the Astros by tossing 0.2 scoreless innings without surrendering a hit.

Kay posted a 10-9 record with a 4.44 ERA and 129 strikeouts prior to the playoffs.

In the regular season, the White Sox ranked fifth in runs (776), home runs (211), and RBIs (740). According to Baseball Savant, Chicago sat eighth in hard-hit rate (40.1%), eighth in barrel rate (8.4%), and 13th in exit velocity (88.9 mph).

Meanwhile, the Guardians received a bye in the Wild Card after winning the AL Central by just a game over the White Sox with an 85-77 record.

Cleveland doesn’t have the most lethal lineup in baseball. In fact, the Guardians ranked 24th in runs (678) and 27th in home runs (162) during the regular season while also posting the second-lowest barrel rate (5.8%), third-lowest hard-hit rate (35.0%), and 22nd-ranked xBA (.240).

Game 2 starting pitcher Gavin Williams led the Guardians in wins (14) and strikeouts (248) during the regular season. His 248 strikeouts were second in the majors behind only Milwaukee Brewers SP Jacob Misiorowski (252) after tallying a 33.2% strikeout rate (97th percentile).
