Top Home Run Picks Today – Friday, July 10

Next week sees one of the best parts of the sports calendar, the MLB All-Star Break, take place. The game’s best overall players will take the field in the All-Star Game itself, but the Home Run Derby might be the most exciting event. Could Friday see some top stars give viewers a glimpse into the future?

Having raw power is talked about a lot with prospects. By the time they reach the big leagues, however, they’re oftentimes much more refined and can do multiple things required to get a ball out of the park. Outfield dimensions, weather, pitcher-hitter matchups, and more go into home runs, and that’s without even mentioning swinging at the right time, angle, and velocity.

Which players could be in good positions to swat a homer on Friday? Daily home run projections are listed as Demons on PrizePicks, coming with higher payouts as a result. With that said, home runs can only be selected as “More” than 0.5

Let’s take a look at the most popular home run picks today on PrizePicks. Picks are listed at time of writing.

  1. Yankees 1B Ben Rice
  2. Nationals OF James Wood
  3. Astros DH Yordan Alvarez
  4. White Sox SS Colson Montgomery
  5. Red Sox 1B Willson Contreras
  6. Angels SS Zach Neto
  7. Athletics 1B Nick Kurtz
  8. Blue Jays 3B Kazuma Okamoto

Three home run picks stand out as potential targets today. Let’s dive into the list, including a weather report from RotoGrinders.

Unless otherwise noted, data used in this article is from Baseball Savant or FanGraphs.

Yankees 1B Ben Rice

Yankees vs. Nationals – 6:45 p.m. ET

Nationals Starting Pitcher: Carson Palmquist

MLB Weather Report: 86 degrees, partly cloudy, 3 mph west wind

  • In addition to surpassing his 2025 home run total of 26 in far fewer games, Rice owns top career marks for ISO (.315), SLG (.590), and wRC+ (162).
  • After a quiet month of June, the slugger is hitting the cover off the ball in July to the tune of a 1.319 OPS and .517 ISO with 5 home runs already. Keep in mind he hasn’t even played on July 10 and has had one off day in this stretch.
  • Rice has slowed his swing down, decreasing his fast-swing rate from 34.5% in 2025 to 23.3% in 2026. It’s given him more control of the ball directionally, as he’s pulling the ball at a 49.4% clip with a 42.3% hard-contact rate.
  • Don’t write the 27-year-old off as due for regression. He sits in the 90th percentile or better in xwOBA (.376), xSLG (.512), and barrel rate (14.9%).
  • Palmquist hasn’t surrendered a home run in his 6.1 innings pitched this year, but his 23.1% whiff rate and 90.1 mph average exit velo leave plenty to be desired.
Add Ben Rice to your PrizePicks Lineup now.

White Sox SS Colson Montgomery

Athletics vs. White Sox – 7:40 p.m. ET

Athletics Starting Pitcher: Jacob Lopez

MLB Weather Report: 74 degrees, clear skies, 9 mph north wind

  • In just his second season with Chicago, Montgomery owns an impressive career ISO of .272 and is maintaining a BABIP within 0.01 of his .263 mark from his debut effort.
  • The slugging shortstop has improved his launch angle from 18.0 degrees to 22.4 degrees, resulting in his fly ball share spiking from 46.8% to 51.4%.
  • Montgomery routinely hits the ball hard, as evidenced by his 87th percentile barrel rate (14.1%) and his 76.2 mph bat speed (93rd percentile).
  • Lopez owns a career-worst 1.84 HR/9 on the year, influenced by him leaving a lot of at-bats up to contact. Foes are hitting .291 against him; that number was .229 in 2025.
  • The 28-year-old lefty resides in the fifth percentile in chase rate and ninth percentile in walk rate. If Montgomery remains patient, he could get a nice pitch to hit.
Add Colson Montgomery to your PrizePicks Lineup now.

Angels SS Zach Neto

Angels vs. Twins – 8:10 p.m. ET

Twins Starting Pitcher: Zebby Matthews

MLB Weather Report: 86 degrees, clear skies, 4 mph south wind

  • Neto’s power improvement continues, as he’s up to a new personal best with a .226 ISO and a 118 wRC+ in 91 games.
  • Despite taking away some batted-ball events due to his combined 42.2% walk and strikeout clips, the fourth-year man still has a hard-hit rate over 40%.
  • The infielder’s 22.6-degree average launch angle has improved his fly ball split to 48.7% (41.9% for his career). That, paired with a 50.9% pull percentage, makes him dangerous.
  • Matthews has given up 1.82 HR/9 in three seasons, with that mark being up to 1.92 in 10 starts this year.
  • The right-handed hurler occupies just the fourth percentile with a 12.8% barrel rate and the 13th percentile with a 90.5 mph average exit velo induced.
Add Zach Neto to your PrizePicks Lineup now.
