Over in Toronto, Eala will compete under the lights as well. The popular Filipina is coming off her first-ever WTA title after lifting the trophy at the Mubadala DC Open, and she’ll look to keep the momentum going against Parks.

As shown by his modest 2026 record and No. 347 ranking, Gael Monfils has played a limited schedule, and when he has competed, wins have been hard to come by. He still shows flashes of the athleticism that’s defined his career, but a body that will turn 40 in September can often let him down.
Well, he looked plenty spry in a straight-sets win over world No. 67 Kamil Majchrzak, becoming the second-oldest man to win a match at this event.
We haven’t seen Monfils compete since his final match at the French Open in May, and perhaps the rest has been a net positive.
At 20 years old, Learner Tien is nearly half Monfils' age and is still very much in the early stages of his career following a breakout 2025 campaign. He reached his first major quarterfinal at the Australian Open earlier this season, and he cracked the top 20 for the first time in May.
However, Tien's level has been a bit off lately.
He suffered a disappointing second-round exit at Wimbledon while dealing with stomach issues, and he most recently was one-and-done in Washington, falling in straight sets to world No. 47 Adrian Mannarino. In all, he’s gone 2-3 over his last five matches dating back to late May.
While that’s a concern for Tien, hard courts are his best surface (62.7% career win rate), and he’s 5-0 against players ranked outside the top 100 this year.
If Tien plays up to his usual standards, Monfils will be up against it to continue his stay in Montreal. He’s 0-2 against top-20 players and 1-3 against top-50 players this season.

Eala’s run to the title was highlighted by wins over defending champion Leylah Fernandez, Elina Svitolina, Naomi Osaka, and Jessica Pegula.
Her hot play dates back to a strong grass swing that included wins over Svitolina, Elena Rybakina, and Iga Swiatek, too.
She’s now earned five straight wins over top-10 opponents and is 7-2 overall against them in 2026.
With Eala playing at such a high level — and drawing a fervent fanbase wherever she goes — world No. 71 Alycia Parks could have a hard time settling into tonight's match.
Parks has struggled to find any consistency all season, and she’s now just 12-11 on hard courts following her first-round win over world No. 122 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva. While Parks won in straight sets, she was gifted 11 double faults by her opponent.
The American did defeat Eala in three sets at this year’s Australian Open, giving her a 1-0 lead in their head-to-head. However, Parks’ campaign has mostly been stuck in neutral since that match while Eala’s has soared to much greater heights.
