The first pitch for the New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves game is set for 8:08 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 4, with the Braves entering as home favorites, returning a 1.53x payout if they win, via PrizePicks.

Today’s matchup is Game 2 of a four-game series between these heated division rivals. The Mets, surprisingly, took the first three-game series back in June, 2-1, but it’s the Braves who started this series off hot, winning 5-3 last night. Will the Braves get some revenge and take a stranglehold on this series?

Below, we'll break down our Mets vs. Braves prediction and picks for Saturday’s MLB game, including the spread, over/under, and key player picks for PrizePicks.

Mets vs. Braves Prediction, Winner Payout, Over/Under – Saturday, July 4

This has been nothing short of a disastrous season for the New York Mets. With the third-highest active payroll in the majors, Mets fans everywhere thought this retooled version of their team would be able to do serious damage. Instead, all they have done is go 36-52 while currently sitting 16 games out of first place in the NL East.

Their -51 run differential tells a story of a team that may genuinely just be bad, despite some of the prolific names on their roster. The Mets likely thought getting SS Francisco Lindor, 2B Bo Bichette, and OF Juan Soto back in the lineup would help, but they have just gone 2-8 over their last 10 games.

The Braves have been at the complete opposite end of the success spectrum. They came into the season perhaps a bit underrated, considering they had finished fourth in the division last year and have not won the NL East since 2023.

Atlanta currently owns a 51-35 record, the fourth-best mark in the majors and the best record in the division by a three-game margin over the Philadelphia Phillies. It hit a bit of a June swoon, going 3-7 over their last 10 games, which allowed the Phillies to make a legit push for the divisional lead by going 7-3 over their last 10.

Still, the Braves' +86 run differential is indicative of a team that is more than legit, and perhaps yesterday’s win over the Mets will jump-start Atlanta once again.

Mets vs. Braves Prediction on Spread – 7/4/26

Here are the key game stats and trends behind our Mets vs. Braves prediction on the spread for Saturday, July 4.

  • The Braves own an impressive 46-40-0 (53.5%) record against the spread (ATS) this season.
  • The Mets, meanwhile, own the sixth-worst ATS record, going 38-50-0 (43.2%).
  • It’s difficult to find a single thing that the Mets do better than the Braves, with Atlanta holding an edge in starting pitching, hitting, and relief pitching.
  • Braves SP Chris Sale has been flat-out dominant this season and owns a ridiculous 2.97 xFIP.
  • Mets SP Sean Manaea started the season as a relief pitcher and owns a 4.07 xFIP.
  • The Braves' offense hasn’t been nearly as impressive as their record indicates, ranking 20th in wRC+ (96) this season.
  • The good news is that the Mets' offense has somehow been much worse. They rank 29th in wRC+ at a below-average 89.
  • The Mets have a competitive bullpen that ranks seventh in xFIP (3.91), a few spots ahead of the Braves, who sit 11th (4.02).

Mets vs. Braves Picks, Player Stats for PrizePicks – 7/4/26

Here are the top Mets vs. Braves picks to target on PrizePicks for Saturday, July 4. Today’s MLB picks for PrizePicks include Sean Manaea and Chris Sale.

Mets SP Sean Manaea vs. Braves: 4.5 Strikeouts

  • Manaea has been decent for the Mets since becoming a starting pitcher, but he runs into a difficult matchup against a high-contact Braves team.
  • Atlanta has struck out just 21.2% of the time this season, the eighth-lowest strikeout rate in baseball.
  • Manaea’s K rate has plummeted on the road from a very impressive 11.27 K/9 at home to just 7.16 K/9 on the road.
  • The Mets only used three arms out of the pen last night, so they should be fresh and ready to step into action should Manaea struggle early in this outing.
  • The Braves are also striking out about 1% less against left-handed pitching than right-handed pitching this season.
Add Sean Manaea to your PrizePicks Lineup now.

Braves SP Chris Sale vs. Mets: 98.5 Pitches Thrown

  • Today feels like a significant game for the Braves; they’re playing their division rivals and have allowed the Phillies to get within three games of the division lead. It’s reasonable to assume they’re going to want their big dog on the mound as long as possible tonight.
  • Additionally, with SP Grant Holmes only lasting 5 innings last night, Atlanta used four relievers and could benefit from a longer start from Sale on Saturday.
  • Sale routinely throws more than 100 pitches, having surpassed the century mark in eight of his 15 starts this season (53.3%).
  • In his lone start against the Mets last season, Sale pitched 8.2 innings and threw 116 pitches.
  • The Mets’ offense may simply not have enough juice to force Sale into a short outing, as they rank second-to-last in wRC+ this season.
Add Chris Sale to your PrizePicks Lineup now.
