Kentucky vs. #9 Texas A&M Prediction, Spread, Over/Under for Saturday, September 19

Despite a significant 28-point loss as only 8.5-point underdogs vs. Alabama, Kentucky showed some promise in the first half. In fact, the Wildcats led 17-13 at halftime, mostly thanks to 3 forced turnovers in the first two quarters.

Then, UK’s main two worries for the 2026 season struck in the second half. The offense struggled to produce without a run game, and the defense crumbled, with Alabama putting forth a dominant 32-0 stretch to close the 45-17 win.

The Wildcats logged only 63 rushing yards on 32 attempts (2.0 yards per carry), and QB Kenny Minchey totaled 146 passing yards and 4.7 yards per attempt. WR Kenny Darby was the only wideout to surpass 20 receiving yards, posting 5 catches for 45 yards.

Following a 50-0 win over Missouri State, Texas A&M kept rolling with a 48-20 victory vs. Arizona State in Week 2. The offense totaled only 255 yards compared to Arizona State’s 369, and the Aggies led only 24-20 entering the fourth quarter.

However, the defense was opportunistic by forcing 4 turnovers, helping fuel a 24-0 fourth-quarter run. The rushing attack logged 35 carries for only 92 rushing yards (2.6 YPC), and backup RB Jamarion Morrow is doubtful for Saturday.

Morrow registered 8 rushing attempts for 27 yards (3.4 YPC) compared to starting RB Ruebuen Owen’s 10 attempts for 35 rushing yards (3.5 YPC) vs. Arizona State. Texas A&M’s rushing attack could be aided by the absence of Kentucky DT Jamarrion Harkless; the 6’3”, 346-pound nose tackle is a notable loss for stuffing the run.

Following some offensive struggles last week, will the Aggies’ offense bounce back against likely one of the SEC’s worst defenses on Saturday? We’ll look at that and more in our Kentucky vs. Texas A&M prediction.

Kentucky vs. Texas A&M Prediction on Spread – 9/19/26

Entering this matchup, Kentucky’s defense is a clear concern. In fact, Cats have given up a 47.7% pass success rate (14th percentile) and a 43.5% rush success rate (29th percentile), per Fourth and Short.

Week 1’s 45-13 win over Youngstown State didn’t tell much against an FCS opponent, but the secondary still allowed 246 passing yards. On Saturday, UK CB Grant Grayton is questionable, but if he’s out, the Wildcats are likely getting a reinforcement with CB Terhyon Nichols expected to make his season debut

Regardless, the Cats likely need to generate regular pressure on Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed to limit the passing game. Kentucky had 4 sacks in Week 2 and now features an 11.6% havoc rate in the front seven (72nd percentile).

The Wildcats’ defensive line was dominant in the early going vs. Alabama. However, the Aggies’ offensive line is allowing only an 11.8% total havoc rate (92nd percentile) on the season.

Furthermore, Reed’s mobility adds to the task of corralling the quarterback. Texas A&M’s QB comes off a shaky performance with only 163 passing yards, 6.5 yards per passing attempt, a 3.6% big-time throw rate, and a 66.7% adjusted completion percentage, per Pro Football Focus

How do you slow a pass rush and aid your signal-caller? Run the rock. Kentucky’s defense has generated only a 19.4% stuff rate against the run (40th percentile), while the Aggies sport a solid 50.6% rush success rate (72nd percentile).

On the flip side, the Wildcats have allowed a 19.4% stuff rate in the run game (32nd percentile) while generating a 0.56 rush explosiveness rating (second percentile) — measuring an offense’s average predicted points added on successful rushing attempts.

A&M’s defense forces a 25.0% stuff rate against the run (76th percentile) and holds opponents to a 26.9% rush success rate (88th percentile). If Kentucky is losing the run game, it's in trouble of another lopsided loss.

QB Kenny Minchey has yet to make 1 big throw on the season and comes off 4.6 yards per passing attempt vs. Alabama. Further, the offense’s most-used WRs, DJ Miller (0.00) and Nic Anderson (0.35), each carry alarming yards-per-route-run totals.

Kentucky vs. Texas A&M Picks, Player Stats for PrizePicks – 9/19/26

Saturday’s top Kentucky vs. Texas A&M picks to target on PrizePicks include WR Kenny Darby and WR Isaiah Horton.

Kentucky WR Kenny Darby vs. Texas A&M: 40.5 Receiving Yards

  • True freshman Kenny Darby has been UK’s most efficient receiver by a landslide, carrying 3.13 yards per route run. Even compared to the Cats’ productive TEs in Willie Rodriguez (2.20) and Henry Boyer (2.13), Darby’s yards per route run firmly lead Big Blue’s targets.
  • His 40 pass snaps trail WRs DJ Miller (53) and Nic Anderson (49), but Darby is usually getting favorable matchups thanks to an 87.5% slot snap rate.
  • PFF also credits the freshman with an excellent 6.1 yards after contact per reception. In fact, Darby carried only a 5.1 average depth of target (aDOT) vs. Alabama, but he still produced 45 receiving yards thanks to 20 yards after contact.
  • After tallying 3 targets for 3 catches and 74 receiving yards in Week 1, Kentucky upped his workload to 8 targets, 5 receptions, and 45 receiving yards last week.
  • If Kentucky finds itself in another negative game script, that should mean more 11 personnel and more snaps for Darby.

Texas A&M WR Isaiah Horton vs. Kentucky: 51.5 Receiving Yards

  • After tallying 511 receiving yards at Alabama last season, Isaiah Horton was 247 Sports’ seventh-best WR available in 2026’s transfer portal rankings.
  • So far, Horton has been the Aggies’ most-used wideout with 65 pass snaps and 14 targets on the season.
  • He’s provided consistent usage with 7 targets in back-to-back outings, producing 4 receptions for 76 receiving yards in Week 1 and 3 catches for 33 receiving yards a week ago.
  • Horton’s big-play potential carries opportunity, proven by a massive 16.9 aDOT. Among three Texas A&M players with at least 10 targets this season, the second-highest aDOT is 12.3, held by WR Terry Bussey.
  • Furthermore, QB Marcel Reed has a solid 82.8 PFF pass grade on 20+ yard attempts, paired with an exceptional 25.0% big-time throw rate in the split.
  • Kentucky has given up a 47.7% pass success rate (14th percentile) and 8.2 yards per passing attempt (36th percentile). Paired with potential changes at cornerback, Horton could take advantage of a vulnerable secondary.
