On Saturday, Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova will face off to determine this year’s Wimbledon women’s champion in a somewhat unexpected, all-Czech women’s final.
Injuries have often held Muchova back over her career, but she’s made deep runs at all four majors, including a runner-up finish at the 2023 French Open. Arguably one of the best active players on the WTA Tour never to win a major, the 29-year-old now has an opportunity to rewrite that narrative.
On the other hand, Noskova is eight years younger than her opponent, so her story is still in its early chapters. While this is her first major final, she reached the Wimbledon round of 16 last season and was a quarterfinalist at the 2024 Australian Open. She can’t be overlooked after defeating three straight top-30 players in straight sets.

As the more accomplished player, it’s no surprise Karolina Muchova is a slight favorite in this all-Czech matchup.
Muchova certainly hasn’t had an easy road to this final. Over the last three rounds, she’s survived a murderers’ row of Grand Slam champions, defeating Barbora Krejcikova, Naomi Osaka, and Coco Gauff. Those three women have eight major titles between them.
Muchova showcased her abilities in a nail-biter against Gauff that ended in a final-set tiebreak.
Despite facing that gauntlet, Muchova has dropped just two sets in the entire tournament. She won a title at Bad Homburg ahead of Wimbledon and enters this final with an 11-1 grass record in 2026.
Linda Noskova hasn’t exactly had a cupcake draw, either, knocking out four straight seeded opponents in Sorana Cirstea, Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, and Marta Kostyuk.
Her 6-4, 6-4 victory over Kostyuk was particularly impressive, as the Ukrainian had lost only once since the beginning of April.
Like Muchova, Noskova has lost just two sets here. She also won a grass tournament (Berlin) ahead of Wimbledon and comes in with an identical 11-1 record on the surface this year.
However, over the course of this event, Muchova has been slightly better on serve compared to Noskova, holding an edge in aces (39 to 33), double faults (8 to 22), first serve points won (79% to 74%), and second serve points won (61% to 57%).
While the two players have had similar numbers returning serve, Muchova’s been the better overall returner in 2026, winning 44.2% of those points compared to 41.4% for Noskova.
At the end of the day, the margins are thin between these two. But when considering Muchova’s more extensive Grand Slam experience and her recent form against some of the tour’s toughest players, she could have the advantage against her fellow countrywoman.
Muchova also leads their head-to-head, 1-0, beating Noskova at the 2025 US Open, although it came on a different surface.
