Georgia vs. Tennessee Prediction, Preview for 9/6/25

Both the Bulldogs and Volunteers are 2-0 out of the gate in 2025, each picking up a pair of double-digit victories.

This series has been one-sided over the last eight seasons with Georgia capturing every matchup since 2017. Tennesse head coach Josh Heupel's teams has never scored more than 17 points vs. the Bulldogs inf. ourtries.

None of the games have been close during this stretch, all decided by 14 or more points, capped off by the Bulldogs beating the Volunteers, 31-17, last season.

Georgia Bulldogs Preview

The Bulldogs are rolling with Gunner Stockton at QB after he relieved Carson Beck — now in Miami — in last season’s SEC championship against Texas. Stockton threw a pair of TDs against Marshall in the opener, but compiled 190 yards through the air.

Georgia’s defense has yielded a total of 13 points this season, but gave up at least 28 points in two of his last three road games in 2024.

Tennessee Volunteers Preview

QB Nico Iamaleava left the Volunteers to find more NIL money and landed at UCLA, who has started 0-2. His replacement in Knoxville is Joey Aguilar, who eclipsed 3,000 passing yards in each of his two seasons at Appalachian State.

Aguilar led the Vols on 6 TD drives in the first half of last week’s 72-17 demolition of East Tennessee State. Tennessee is 11-1 at home in SEC play the past three seasons with the lone loss coming to Georgia in 2023.

Aguilar has looked like one of the best starters in college football thus far, but he'll have to prove it vs. a Bulldogs defense that was vulnerable vs. the pass in 2024, ranking 53rd in defensive dropback EPA.

Georgia vs. Tennessee Picks for PrizePicks, CFB DFS

Here are the top Georgia vs. Tennessee picks and player projections to target on PrizePicks for this Week 3 showdown, including Joey Aguilar and Zachariah Branch.

Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar Projection: 204.5 Passing Yards

New Tennessee starting QB Joey Aguilar finished second in the Sun Belt in passing yards in each of his two seasons at Appalachian State. This will be his biggest step up since donning the Tennessee orange, as he posted 247 yards against Syracuse and 288 yards to ETSU.

In each of the last three matchups, Georgia’s defense has yielded less than 200 passing yards to Tennessee. The last Vols’ QB to eclipse 200 passing yards against the Bulldogs was Hendon Hooker, who put up 244 yards in 2021.

Aguilar didn’t have one performance of less than 200 passing yards last season at App State.

But his worst graded passing game according to PFF came against Clemson, which graded out at 46.6 as he compiled 214 passing yards.

Georgia RB Nate Frazier Projection: 51.5 Rushing Yards

Nate Frazier led the Bulldogs in rushing during his freshman season, posting 671 yards on 133 carries. Through two games of his sophomore campaign, the southern California native has picked up 116 yards.

Following a 47-yard effort in the season-opening victory over Marshall, Frazier put together 69 yards and 2 TD’s in a 28-6 victory over Austin Peay.

Last season against Tennessee, Frazier ran the ball 19 times for 68 yards and a score. It marked the second time in eight games against SEC foes that Frazier eclipsed 52 rushing yards.

The Volunteers yielded the second-fewest rushing yards per game among SEC teams in 2024 at 103.7. In three of four home conference games last season, the leading rusher for Tennessee’s opponent picked up at least 85 yards.

Georgia WR Zachariah Branch Projection: 49.5 Receiving Yards

Georgia WR Zachariah Branch is looking to bust out in his first season in Athens after spending his first two seasons at USC. He finished third on the Trojans in receiving yards last season, including a 98-yard performance against Michigan and a 102-yard output against Washington.

Through two games at Georgia, Branch hauled in a 47-yard reception on his way to 95 yards in the season-opening victory over Marshall.

The Las Vegas native didn’t produce much last week, picking up only 3 catches for 17 yards against Austin Peay. He's played just 33 pass snaps across two games, with nine targets on those snaps — but he may have a larger role in a four-quarter game if this stays close.

Of those snaps, he's playing 75.8% out of the slot, which is conducive to easy targets.

Last season at USC, Branch graded out at 66.3 according to PFF, but has jumped to 75.1 through two games at Georgia.
