Andrea Kimi Antonelli or Lewis Hamilton were expected to take pole, but George Russell swooped in late during Saturday morning's qualifying session. 

Russell finished a mere 0.064 seconds better than Hamilton. That helped the driver secure his third pole of 2026. Hamilton will be in Row 1 along with him. Antonelli held off Norris and Verstappen for third position.

Lewis Hamilton was flying in Qualifying Session 1, but George Russell took over in Q2 and Q3. Hamilton thought he had struck back, but had to settle for Row 1. Lando Norris fought back to end up on the outside of Row 2.
