The 2026 French Open men’s final is set: Flavio Cobolli vs. Alexander Zverev. We will see a first-time Grand Slam champion on Sunday, June 7.
For Zverev, this is his fourth major final, but after going 0-3 in his previous three tries, it’s championship or bust.
For Cobolli, just making it to this final is a career breakthrough. He had previously reached only one major quarterfinal (2025 Wimbledon) and had never advanced past the third round at Roland Garros.
Is it finally Zverev’s time to join the list of Grand Slam champions? Or will Cobolli play spoiler and etch his name in the history books?
Below, we’ll break down our Flavio Cobolli vs. Alexander Zverev prediction for the French Open men’s singles final, including recent form, match analysis, and a PrizePicks pick.

Widely considered the best player on the ATP Tour without a Grand Slam title, Alexander Zverev is the heavy favorite to win the championship. To Zverev, it sounds like anything short of a title will be considered a failure.
While the French Open trophy has eluded the German, he’s consistently made deep runs in Paris. Dating back to 2018, he’s now reached at least the quarterfinals in eight of his last nine tries and advanced to the semis or better five times.
Of the three tennis surfaces, Zverev’s highest career win percentage is on clay (73.4%). Nine of his 24 titles have come on the red dirt, which includes four Masters 1000 clay titles.
Needless to say, Zverev has impressive credentials coming into this final.
Flavio Cobolli may not have the same accolades as his opponent, but he’s been a mainstay in the top 25 since the end of last year, and win or lose, he will enter the top 10 for the first time, per the ATP live rankings.
Cobolli has two clay titles to his name (Hamburg and Bucharest), both in 2025, and he was a finalist in Munich earlier this clay season. He owns a 60.7% career win rate on clay, which is his best surface.
However, the Italian has never won a Masters 1000 tournament, and this is his first major to advance past the quarterfinals. This is uncharted territory for Cobolli, whereas Zverev has experience playing in loads of high-pressure situations at the biggest tournaments.
Cobolli comes into this final with some extra rest due to his semifinal opponent withdrawing due to an illness. That being said, Zverev has been largely unbothered through this tournament, losing only two sets along the way, so the German should be pretty fresh as well.
Overall, Zverev looks like a deserving favorite, and perhaps he finally gets over the hump and takes home his first major title on Sunday.
Tennis Abstract’s Elo ratings peg Zverev for an 80.4% win probability.

Cobolli vs. Zverev Pick in French Open Final
Flavio Cobolli — 17.5 Total Games Won
During his tournament run, Zverev’s opponents have won 9, 8, 16, 10, 10, and 16 total games. Jakub Mensik and Quentin Halys were the only opponents to win a set off Zverev, but in both cases, they still won just 16 games.
At this French Open, Zverev has won an excellent 76% of his first-serve points, and Cobolli has actually even been a tick better at 77%. However, Alexander has shown a significant edge over Flavio in winning second-serve points (67% vs. 59%), and he’s also cashing in on more return points (43% vs. 41%).
Zverev leads the head-to-head versus Cobolli 3-1. While the German’s one loss to Cobolli came in straight sets at Munich earlier this year, Zverev quickly got revenge in their most recent meeting, a straight-sets victory at Madrid. The two played in last year’s French Open, and Zverev won fairly comfortably (6-2, 7-6, 6-1).
