Aryna Sabalenka hasn’t faced much resistance through four rounds, efficiently defeating Camila Osorio, Polina Iatcenko, Kamila Rakhimova, and Taylor Townsend in straight sets. While none of those players are ranked inside the top 50, she’s taken advantage of the generous draw, with none of her matches exceeding an hour and a half. 

Sabalenka is now a ridiculous 31-3 on hard courts this year, finishing runner-up at the Australian Open while winning titles in Indian Wells, Miami, and Brisbane. Her level dipped somewhat over the summer, but she appears to be right back where she wants to be as she attempts to reach what would be her eighth straight hard-court major final dating back to 2023.

The world No. 1 is also one win away from making at least the semifinals at the US Open for the sixth year in a row.  

It’s been a trickier path for Linda Noskova, who’s gone to a deciding set in back-to-back matches. Noskova defeated world No. 28 Ann Li 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-2 in the third round, followed by a 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 victory over world No. 11 Marta Kostyuk in the round of 16.

This is the third major quarterfinal for the 2026 Wimbledon champ, who is quickly starting to make a name for herself at just 21 years old.  

However, Noskova hasn’t been nearly as consistent on this surface as her opponent in 2026, as this is just her second hard-court tournament where she’s won more than two consecutive matches. The one previous time was when she reached the semifinals at Indian Wells, where she fell in straight sets to none other than Sabalenka.

According to Tennis Abstract’s Elo ratings, Sabalenka projects to win this match 79.4% of the time. While Noskova is a player on the rise in the midst of a breakthrough season, Sabalenka has been nearly unbeatable in the hard-court majors for several years now and could be in line for another US Open semifinal appearance.
