#4 Miami vs. Clemson Prediction, Spread, Over/Under – Saturday, October 3

Miami has scored 33+ points in all four games this season and is one of three teams averaging over 50 PPG (51.3). Mario Cristobal’s offense leads the nation in total yards at 588.8 per game, going over 540 yards in three of the four outings thus far.

The Hurricanes' offense, led by Heisman candidates QB Darian Mensah and WR Malachi Toney, leads the nation in yards per play (8.53) and first downs per game (30.8) and ranks second in offensive EPA/play (+0.442).

But it’s not just the offense leading the Canes, as the defense has been as good as any in the country as well. Miami is second in total defense (224.5 YPG), fourth in scoring defense (9.0 PPG), and first in rush defense (39.5 YPG).

The Hurricanes, who lost to Indiana last year in the CFP National Championship, have a profile similar to those champion Hoosiers, who finished in the top three in both scoring offense and defense.

Clemson's turnaround has taken place mostly on defense, where the Tigers have held their last three opponents to 10.0 PPG and 282.0 YPG after allowing 51 points and 644 yards to LSU.

For the season, despite that 51-10 LSU game, Clemson is now allowing only 6.0 yards per pass, 27th nationally, and is 19th in defensive EPA/dropback. The opponent-adjusted numbers are even more encouraging: Clemson is 13th nationally in adjusted EPA/play on D.
