2025 College Football QB Rankings: Top 5
Here are the top five college football QB rankings for the 2025 season, including their 2025 stat projections from the PrizePicks' CFBSZN board — a season-long, real money college fantasy football game.
5. LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier
2024 stats:
- 337/525 (64.2%)
- 4,052 Passing Yards
- 29 Touchdowns
- 12 Interceptions
- 142.7 Quarterback Rating
LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier is different than most of the other field generals on this list in that he has zero mobility. We’re talking Peyton- and Eli-level cement legs, which is why he managed (avert your eyes) -38 rushing yards last year.
But his arm is just fine. A gunslinger to the core, he led the SEC with 525 pass attempts in 2024, 77 more than the next man on the list, also tossing for 4,052 yards (second in school history) and 29 touchdowns. Sure, he chucked 12 picks, but that’s the tradeoff when you’re relying on a fearless, Favre-like hurler.
Nussmeier has some new weapons at wide receiver, including former Oklahoma standout Nic Anderson, which will offer him the opportunity to go even more vertical than he did last season.

4. Penn State QB Drew Allar
2024 stats:
- 262/394 (66.5%)
- 3,327 Passing Yards
- 302 Rushing Yards
- 24 Touchdowns
- 8 Interceptions
- 153.5 Quarterback Rating
Some thought Penn State QB Drew Allar was going to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, but he made the choice to stay at Penn State for one more year. He’s close to being NFL-ready, but he would have been a late Day 2 to early Day 3 pick in this last draft, so another year of marination in University Park makes sense for both his development and his future bank account.
There’s a lot of optimism as Allar continues to take leaps forward, as things seemed to click in 2024, when he delivered a career high 8.4 yards per attempt, and flashed some impressive accuracy, dropping a 66.5% completion percentage.
The good news is he’ll be crouched behind one of the better offensive lines in the country, and he’ll be supported by a solid running back duo of Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen.

3. South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers
2024 stats:
- 196/299 (65.6%)
- 2,534 Passing Yards
- 674 Rushing Yards
- 18 Touchdowns
- 7 Interceptions
- 151.9 Quarterback Rating
A slow start to the season was followed by a stellar finish; in his final eight games, Sellers averaged 247.5 passing yards, 68.7% completion percentage, with a 16:4 TD:INT ratio.
The mobility is there — he can scramble, let a play develop, then finish with an on-target completion — and the vertical passing game is potentially there. But we mostly saw his best against some of the NCAA’s weaker defenses, as he had three games in which he averaged 11 yards per attempt.
This is especially problematic in the brutal SEC, where Sellers has to show he can do it against the top brass.

2. Clemson QB Cade Klubnik
2024 stats:
- 308/486 (63.4%)
- 3,639 Passing Yards
- 463 Rushing Yards
- 36 Touchdowns
- 6 Interceptions
- 148.2 Quarterback Rating
Last season was a comeback year for the former #1 quarterback recruit, as 2023 was a huge letdown, a season in which we saw an inability to read defenses… yet an ability to throw into coverage instead of bailing on plays. This led to an atrocious 9 interceptions as compared to 19 touchdowns.
Whatever he did to improve worked, as evidenced by last season's turnaround, highlighted by 36 touchdowns and just 6 picks.
Another quarterback who excels with his arm and legs, Klubnik was able to show off his footwork last season, dropping a career-high 3.9 yards per rush.
He has a solid complement of receivers — most notably Antonio Williams — and should have Clemson back in playoff contention.

1. Texas QB Arch Manning
2024 stats:
- 61-90 (67.8%)
- 939 Passing Yards
- 108 Rushing Yards
- 9 Touchdowns
- 2 Interceptions
- 184.0 Quarterback Rating
It’s finally time to unleash the golden boy.
We have a solid sample size from Manning, and he’s shown he can be an elite NCAA quarterback. Yes, the experience isn’t there, but the tools and bloodline are, and Texas's head coach Steve Sarkisian does a great job of building his offense around his signal callers and should emphasize Manning’s strengths, so 2024 smacks with promise.
Also in the plus column, Manning possesses something his uncles lacked: mobility. Arch’s 115 career rushing yards have already surpassed Eli and Peyton’s combined total of -316. (Yes, that’s a negative number. Celebrities, please put that nugget in your back pocket for future appearances on the Manningcast.)
If Arch’s budding skill set blossoms even further, the littlest Manning can turn Texas into a title contender — and himself into a No. 1 draft pick.
