USA vs. Belgium Lineup Analysis for Match Predictions
USA ST Folarin Balogun will now be in the United States’ starting XI despite receiving a red card in the Round of 32 against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The USMNT star would’ve been suspended for Monday’s Round of 16 match, but FIFA rescinded his suspension.
According to reports, U.S. President Donald Trump played a role in having Balogun’s suspension lifted, at least having a conversation with FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Balogun has scored 3 goals in the 2026 World Cup, including a goal in the United States’ 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With Balogun in the starting XI, the United States will trot out the same lineup as against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32. Up top, it’ll be Balogun, alongside Christian Pulisic and Segiño Dest
Meanwhile, Belgium head coach Rudi Garcia has sent out the same lineup in all four of the team’s World Cup matches up to this point. However, the Red Devils made some significant changes against the USA on Monday — a shocking move at this point in the tournament.
LW Jérémy Doku, AM Kevin De Bruyne, and CF Romelu Lukaku will all come off the bench against the United States.
Lukaku did come off the bench against Senegal in the Round of 32. The Napoli CF entered the match in the 45th minute, then scored in the 86th minute to help fuel Belgium’s comeback in a 3-2 win.
However, De Bruyne and Doku both started against Senegal last week. Lukaku has tallied two goals during the 2026 World Cup, while Doku has yet to score in the tournament. As far as we know, are all available off the bench.
Both teams have excelled in the goal-scoring department thus far. Belgium has racked up 2.13 expected goals (xG) throughout the 2026 World Cup, while the United States has tallied 1.38 xG. The Americans have scored at least two goals in each of their four matches.
