Royals vs. Rangers — 8:05 p.m. ET

Texas SP Patrick Corbin has been phenomenal for the Texas Rangers, throwing 10 scoreless first innings in 12 starts this, and 4–1 to the NRFI when pitching at home. Against teams’ leadoff hitters the first time through the order, Corbin is silencing them to a .188 average allowing just six hits in 32 at bats.
Royals SP Kris Bubic has also excelled to the NRFI this year, posting a 12–1 NRFI record (6–1 on the road) — 12 scoreless innings in 13 starts. The Rangers offensively are on a 7–3 NRFI and hold a 30–7 NRFI record when hitting in the first inning. When facing the first batters the first time through the order, Bubic is limiting them to a .316 on-base percentage.
Astros vs. Athletics — 10:05 p.m. ET

Houston Astros ace Framber Valdez has thrown nine scoreless first innings in 15 starts 2025; since last season, he’s an even more impressive 16-4 to the NRFI when pitching on the road. The first time through the order, Valdez is holding hitters to a .189 batting average allowing 21 hits in 111 at-bats this year.
His opening matchup against Brent Rooker should be especially favorable— Valdez has dominated Rooker in their past meetings, surrendering just two hits in Rooker’s last 18 at-bats resulting in a .111 average.
Athletics SP Luis Severino is 11–4 to the NRFI this season and 6–3 to the NRFI when pitching at home. Offensively, the Astros boast a 26-7 first-inning hitting record on the road this year. When facing batters the first time through the order, Luis Severino has given up a .203 average 25 hits in 123 at-bats.
