#18 Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech Prediction, Spread, Over/Under – Saturday, September 12

Two teams with drastically different Week 1 results square off in an SEC vs. ACC battle in Atlanta. Georgia Tech was upset at home by Colorado as a 6.5-point favorite, failing to hold a late lead and getting the game-winning field goal blocked.

The Yellow Jackets couldn't get off the field, allowing the Buffaloes to rush for 183 yards and convert 7 of 17 third downs. Colorado’s last drive summed up the night, as the Buffaloes drove 75 yards in 63 seconds to take the 1-point lead.

Georgia Tech also struggled on offense, gaining only 288 total yards and finishing the night with an EPA per play of -0.13.  Rushing was the biggest issue as the Yellow Jackets managed a paltry 1.7 yards per rush, which was 127th of the 138 teams that played last weekend.

Tennessee blew out FCS Furman as expected, but we’re not sure many had them putting up 638 yards. Faizon Brandon threw for 3 TDs and ran for a pair more, the first SEC player to accomplish that in his debut since Auburn’s Cam Newton in 2010.

The Volunteers scored a TD on five straight possessions over the second and third quarters to build a 42-0 lead. They allowed points only off turnovers. Per Game on Paper, the Tennessee offense averaged 11.04 yards per dropback, placing it in the 94th percentile.

Saturday is a big road game for Tennessee, as the Volunteers have #4 Texas coming to Knoxville in two weeks.
