Ole Miss is led by Heisman Trophy candidates QB Trinidad Chambliss and RB Kewan Lacy, who is back from his shoulder injury.

The Rebels knocked off former head coach Lane Kiffin and LSU in the season’s third week before falling in Gainesville to Florida the next week. Since then, the Rebels have knocked off Vanderbilt and Missouri, averaging 42.0 points and 453.5 yards per game.

This season, Ole Miss is second in the SEC and 13th nationally with 290.7 passing yards per game, completing 66.7% of its passes. The Rebels are also averaging 444.5 total yards (36th nationally) and 37.5 points per game (20th).

Now the Rebels head to Austin and face a reeling Longhorns team that has lost two conference games. Neither team can afford a loss if they want to stay in the SEC and CFP races.

The Longhorns’ offense continues to be an issue, as they failed to crack 300 yards of offense for the second time in the last three games. Texas has averaged only 305.3 total yards over its last three games (all SEC games), compared to 417.3 over its first three (no SEC games). Running has been a big problem, with Texas averaging just 94.0 rush yards per game.

The Longhorns ranks outside the top 100 nationally in yards per play and rushing offense and is 93rd in total offense. Sustaining drives has also hurt the Longhorns, as they have converted only 8 of 36 third downs over the last three games (22.2%). Over those SEC games, Texas’ offensive EPA is -0.120, per Fourth Down Data.

The struggles on offense could also lead to more playing time for redshirt freshman QB KJ Lacey Jr., per reports.

This is the first meeting between the two schools since Texas joined the SEC. They met eight previous times, with the Longhorns winning six of them.

Ole Miss vs. Texas Prediction on Spread – 10/24/26

Here are the key stats and trends behind our Ole Miss vs. Texas prediction on the spread for Saturday, October 24.

  • Ole Miss has more wins against AP Top 25 teams this season (two) than Miami, BYU, Notre Dame, Georgia, and Indiana (one).
  • The Rebels have scored on all 24 red-zone trips this season, with 21 touchdowns and 3 field goals. Their 87.5% red zone touchdown rate leads the SEC.
  • After covering as a 29.5-point favorite vs. Texas State in the season opener, Texas has failed to cover in its last five games, all as the favorite.
  • The five non-covers as a favorite are tied with Washington and Indiana for most in the country.
  • Texas has gone three-and-out on 34.3% of its possessions, the highest rate in the SEC, which should give Ole Miss an opportunity to win the possession battle and generate additional scoring chances.
