Rams vs. Seahawks Over/Under Pick for Thursday Night Football

The Rams vs. Seahawks over/under opened the week at 44.5 and has since moved down to 42.5 as of writing, which comes in tied for the fifth-lowest total on the Week 16 slate, out of 16 games.

Here are some stats to know to get you prepared for Rams vs. Seahawks, including an over/under prediction for Thursday Night Football via PrizePicks Team Picks.

  • Since 2017, divisional TNF game unders when the spread less than or equal to 6 have gone 61-42-1. This game falls in that category.
  • The Seahawks defense ranks second in expected points added (EPA) per play defense in the NFL at -0.12.
  • The Rams have the sixth best EPA/play defense in the NFL at -0.08.
  • Seattle’s defense is ranked sixth in EPA vs. the pass at -0.11, and the league's best EPA vs. the run at -0.14.
  • Los Angeles has the seventh-best EPA vs. the pass and the fifth-best EPA vs. the run, both at -0.08.
  • Both teams are missing one pivotal offensive contributor in Rams WR Davante Adams and Seattle’s LT Charles Cross.
  • In games with sustained winds of 15+ mph (currently expected to be 17 mph tonight in Seattle) with clear skies, teams combine for 430.9 passing yards, according to The Athletic. However, when you add in rain with 15+ mph winds — which is forecasted for tonight — that combined pass yards number drops to 24.1%, to 347.2 combined passing yards.
  • That said, rain is expected to be light for the majority of the game, according to current forecasts.

Thursday Night Football Injury Report: Rams vs. Seahawks

Both teams are relatively healthy going into this matchup, but each side will likely be missing one key figure on the offensive side of the ball.

Rams star WR Davante Adams has been a DNP all week in practice and is officially listed as doubtful, while Seahawks LT Charles Cross has officially been ruled out for Week 16.

Assuming that Adams (doubtful) sits out, they’ll be without their best end-zone threat, the league leader in WR TDs this year (14) and a pivotal piece to Matthew Stafford’s MVP campaign.

This will force the Rams into leaning heavily on their 13 personnel with three tight ends on the field, similar to how they operated last week vs. the Lions.

With a 73.2 PFF blocking grade, LT Charles Cross is the 26th-ranked offensive tackle in the NFL out of 82. He especially shines in pass protection with a PFF grade of 76.9 he has the 19th best pass block grading in the league.

This is especially important because he would have been responsible for protecting QB Sam Darnold’s blind side and lining up across from noted game-wrecker DE Jared Verse, PFF’s 10th- best graded EDGE, who ranks third in QB hits (17), and seventh in total pressures (65) this season, per PFF.

Rams vs. Seahawks Weather Impact on Over/Under Tonight

Thursday Night Football weather in Seattle calls for a small chance of rain; more notably, sustained 20 mph winds with gusts getting as high as 40 mph are forecasted.

With winds hitting over 20 mph, the wind is likely to have an effect on the passing game, specifically on deep throws, and could limit team’s decisions to take long field goals.

Sam Darnold leads all qualified NFL starting QBs with an average yards per attempt of 8.8. Matthew Stafford is right behind him with a 7.92 YPA, ranking seventh, but is first in big-time throws this year (36), per PFF. Those deeper passes could be affected by the wind and rain today.
