The Panthers’ offense really struggled to get anything going in their 43-13 loss to the Buccaneers in Week 7. QB Bryce Young had a particularly rough day, completing 14 of 27 attempts for 163 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs, and he was sacked a season-high 5 times. Young also had a fumble that was returned for a Tampa TD.
Due to the negative game script, lead RB Chuba Hubbard had a modest performance, too, logging 7 carries for 33 yards and 4 receptions for another 27 yards.
Better days should be ahead for this offense, though.
Even with last week’s poor outing, the Panthers are sixth in PPG (26.5) and fifth in YPG (381.3). Young is a respectable 11th in adjusted yards per attempt (7.8) and has a pair of talented young wideouts in WR Tetairoa McMillan and WR Jalen Coker. Hubbard was coming off back-to-back weeks with 120+ rushing yards before last week’s dud.
This group could give the Packers some trouble if they’re able to bounce back.
Carolina’s defense also failed to show up against the Bucs, most notably coughing up a whopping 258 yards and 3 TDs on the ground. The Panthers have been a run-funnel defense this season, allowing the most rushing YPG (153.2) and YPA (5.2) while giving up the sixth-fewest passing yards (195.7).
While being that susceptible to the run is hardly ideal, that could be less of an issue against a pass-heavy Green Bay offense. The Packers rank fifth in passing YPG (268.6) compared to being last in rushing YPG (59.9) and YPA (2.9).
QB Jordan Love is averaging the sixth-most pass attempts per game (38.7), and he was busy in last week’s matchup against Detroit, completing 27 of 45 passes for 274 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT. Meanwhile, the offense managed just 60 rushing yards.
The Packers did just get RB Josh Jacobs back last week, though, and he could potentially help turn around this lethargic rushing attack.
Green Bay could be without WR Matthew Golden, who’s listed as questionable after getting limited practice on Wednesday.
Defensively, the Packers are 11th in PPG (20.7) and 13th in YPG (323.0). They’re also eighth in defensive DVOA, per FTN. They could give the Panthers’ offense fits if Young is off his game again.

Panthers vs. Packers Prediction on Spread for Thursday Night Football – 10/29/26
Here are the key stats and trends behind our Panthers vs. Packers prediction on the spread for Thursday, October 29.
- The Packers could be ill-equipped to take advantage of the Panthers’ lackluster rush defense. Green Bay ranks 32nd in rush EPA/play (-0.291) and 30th in rush success rate (32.1%), per RBSDM.
- Even with Jacobs back last week, the team produced a poor -0.238 rush EPA/play.
- Due to their inability to run the ball efficiently, the Packers average the fewest rushes per game (20.6). The team is third in pass rate over expected, per Sharp Football Analysis.
- Carolina’s defense is 14th in dropback EPA/play allowed (0.064) compared to 30th in rush EPA/play allowed (-0.039).
- The two starting quarterbacks are neck and neck in adjusted EPA/play this season. Love ranks 15th (0.138), while Young is 16th (0.127).
- Although the Panthers’ D has generated just 11 sacks, they’re 11th in pressure rate (37.8%) and eighth in ESPN’s pass rush win rate (54%).
- Green Bay’s offensive line is 32nd in pass block win rate (31%). PFF also gives them the NFL’s worst grade in pass blocking.
- Packers K Trey Smack missed 2 field goals under 40 yards last week. Smack is now just 11 of 16 (68.8%) on field goals this season, and he’s also missed 2 extra points. That could be an issue for Green Bay if his woes continue.

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard vs. Packers: 67.5 Rush Yards
- Similar to the Panthers, the Packers’ defense is also showing signs of being a run funnel, sitting ninth in passing YPG (208.0) but 17th in rushing YPG (115.0).
- Their defense is also 30th in rush success rate (43.8%) and 28th in run stop win rate (26%).
- Prior to last week’s blowout loss, Hubbard had 19+ carries in three straight games. He rushed for 82, 122, and 120 yards.
- He also played over 80% of the snaps in those three games, including a season-high 93.3% snap share in Week 6. On paper, the tight spread suggests Hubbard shouldn’t get scripted out of this matchup.

Add Chuba Hubbard + Panthers to win to your PrizePicks lineup now.
Packers RB Josh Jacobs vs. Panthers: 82.5 Rush + Receiving Yards
- In his first game back, Jacobs logged 11 carries and 7 targets for 91 scrimmage yards.
- According to Fantasy Points’ Ryan Heath, Jacobs saw a 65% backfield carry share and a 15.6% target share.
- Jacobs played 53.8% of the snaps last week. That number could rise now that he has a game under his belt, as he averaged a 60.4% snap share in 2025.
- RB MarShawn Lloyd was the only other running back to see any carries against the Lions. Among 42 RBs with at least 40 rushes this season, Lloyd is last in rushing YPA (2.6) and second-to-last in yards after contact per attempt (1.91).
- Per Pro Football Reference, the Panthers are conceding 155.6 scrimmage YPG to opposing running backs this season.
Add Josh Jacobs + Packers to cover the spread to your PrizePicks lineup now.
