Tonight’s primetime game moves over to Peacock, with the Cowboys vs. Giants kicking off Sunday Night Football on NBC. That doesn’t take away from tonight’s stakes, though, as the Padres currently hold the last Wild Card spot in the National League.

Against a Giants team with the fourth-worst record in baseball, PrizePicks tabs San Diego as the favorite with a 1.72x payout to win tonight. Let’s break down the Sunday Night Baseball matchups, providing our Padres vs. Giants prediction and picks for PrizePicks.

Padres vs. Giants Prediction, Winner, Over/Under – Sunday, September 13

The Padres have gotten hot at the perfect time, as their 7-3 record in the last 10 games gives them a 1.5-game lead for the final Wild Card spot in the National League.

The Diamondbacks are the only threat to remove San Diego from a playoff spot, as all other NL teams behind Arizona in the standings have been eliminated from postseason contention. With a 5-2 record in their last seven games, the D-backs continue to apply the pressure on San Diego.

Following back-to-back wins, the Padres are chasing a sweep of the Giants on Sunday Night Baseball. San Diego gave up 5.5 runs per game in the first two matchups, but its 7.0 runs per contest were enough to fuel wins.

For Sunday night, Padres SP Nick Pivetta (3.43 ERA, 2.43 xERA in 5 GS) will make his sixth start of the season. In a down year, Giants SP Logan Webb (4.10 ERA, 4.09 xERA in 27 GS) will get the start under the lights.

Padres vs. Giants Prediction on Winner for Sunday Night Baseball – 9/13/26

Following four starts to open the season, Padres SP Nick Pivetta missed almost five months due to an elbow injury, finally making his return on September 7.

Despite his long absence, Pivetta was given a pretty long leash in his first start back, totaling 5.0 innings pitched. His excellent outing with 2 hits and 0 earned runs allowed helped his case — though his 5.65 xERA in the start suggests regression, per FanGraphs.

Still, this is a major addition to the rotation, with Pivetta posting a 2.87 ERA over 31 starts in the 2025 season. Further, the veteran hurler had 2.92, 1.71, and 1.44 xFIPs in three starts from April 1 to April 12.

Meanwhile, Giants SP Logan Webb has been lit up to the tune of a 9.18 ERA over his previous four starts. In that split, San Francisco is 1-3 outright — adding to its 10-16 record when Webb is on the bump this season.

After posting 3.03, 2.90, 3.25, 3.47, and 3.22 ERAs over his last five seasons, this has been a season to forget for Webb, touting a 4.10 ERA and a 3.77 xFIP that would be his lowest mark since 2020.

San Diego has the lowest bullpen xERA (3.18) this season, compared to San Francisco’s 4.15 xERA (19th). Further backed by 7.7 runs per game over the last three matchups, the Padres could add to their playoff hopes on Sunday Night Baseball.
