NFL Playoffs 2025: Everything You Need to Know

When do the 2025 NFL Playoffs Start?

The first game of the NFL Playoffs is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, with the six NFL Wild Card Round games being played over Saturday, Sunday, and Monday Night Football.

Over the following month, 14 teams will compete in a high-stakes elimination tournament to claim their spot in the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9.

Here’s the full 2025 NFL Playoff schedule:

  • NFL Wild Card Round — Jan. 11-13
  • NFL Divisional Round — Jan. 18-19
  • NFL Conference Championships — Jan. 26
  • NFL Super Bowl — Feb. 9

How Many Teams Make the NFL Playoffs?

14 teams will make the NFL Playoffs — seven teams in NFC and AFC. Only one team from each conference will get a first-round bye, while the other 12 teams will face off in the Wild Card Round.

The seven teams in each conference consist of: the four division winners (North, East, South, West) and three Wild Card teams with the best remaining records. View the current 2025 NFL Playoff picture here.

Where To Watch The NFL Playoffs?

The NFL Playoffs will be televised on a variety of different networks, including a Monday Night Football game during the Wild Card Round.

The main networks that these games will be shown on are Fox and CBS. Other television networks include NBC and ABC for certain wildcard matchups. Some games will also be featured on Peacock and ESPN streaming services.

Super Bowl 58 will be televised on FOX.

How Does The NFL Playoff Bracket Work?

A total of 14 teams make the NFL Playoffs this year; seven from the NFC. Here’s how it works.

  1. #1 Seed Advantage: The top-seeded team (the team with the best record) in each conference gets a bye in the Wild Card Round.
  2. Matchups Are Based on Seeding: In the Wild Card Round, #7 plays #2, #6 plays #3, and #5 plays #4 in their respective conferences. After each round, the highest seeded team remaining in each conference plays the lowest remaining seed.
  3. Elimination Each Week: Teams are eliminated weekly until only two remain; from 14 to eight to four to two, who will go to the Super Bowl.

Here is what the NFL Playoffs Bracket looks like, via Sporting News. Keep in mind the reseeding noted above before every round. The higher seed always has home field advantage.
