DeVonta Smith Injury Update: Is Smith Playing in Week 3?
After missing practice Thursday, the next few days will be critical in determining whether Smith will play against the Bears. Smith also missed time during training camp because of a hamstring injury, making this latest injury particularly concerning.
On Friday, Smith was spotted during individual drills, though we will have to wait for an official practice status.
The Eagles’ top wideout put together a dominant performance in the team’s Week 2 win vs. the Titans, hauling in 10 passes for 117 yards and a TD. Smith also caught four passes on Philadelphia’s game-winning TD drive in the fourth quarter, including a 19-yard reception that set up WR Darius Cooper’s game-winning TD catch in the final seconds.
Smith has caught 13 passes for 170 yards and a TD through the first two games of 2026. He recorded 3 receptions for 53 yards in the Eagles’ Week 1 win against the Commanders.

Smith has been relatively healthy throughout his NFL career, missing only five regular-season games over six seasons. The Eagles’ speedy WR hasn’t missed a game since being sidelined for four contests in 2024.
With RB Saquon Barkley sidelined against the Titans in Week 2, the Eagles threw the ball at a fairly high rate. QB Jalen Hurts completed 26 of 37 passes for 264 yards and 2 TDs, with 13 of those passes headed in Smith’s direction. In fact, Smith’s 13 targets were a career high for a single game.
According to PlayerProfiler, Smith has a 33.9% target share this season, which ranks fifth among all WRs, while his 13 receptions also sit fifth across the NFL.
In addition to Smith, WR Dontayvion Wicks had a very productive day in Week 2, catching 5 passes for 74 yards on 6 targets. This came after Wicks, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Packers, registered 2 receptions for 73 yards vs. the Commanders in Week 1.
