The NBA trade deadline is Thursday, February 5, at 3:00 p.m. ET, and the 23-22 Chicago Bulls — who appear to be barrelling towards their third-consecutive Play-In Tournament berth — could be buying. Or selling. Or both.

Let’s dig into some NBA trade rumors and throw out some deal scenarios for the Bulls, including mock trades that could land the Bulls a star player, like Pelicans PF Zion Williamson or Kings C Domantas Sabonis.

Chicago Bulls Trade Rumors: Mock Trade Scenario

Bulls PG Coby White will be a free agent after this season. With Chicago already locking PG Josh Giddey into a long-term deal, they might not want to shell out big bucks for the North Carolina product.

Lacking a point guard, landing White would be a huge get for the Minnesota Timberwolves, especially if they can re-sign him either during or after the 2025-26 season.

NBA insider Jake Weinbach posted a trade scenario in which the Timberwolves acquire White for PG Mike Conley Jr., SF Terrence Shannon Jr., and multiple second-round picks.

However, this is a pretty underwhelming haul for the Bulls — Shannon is the most intriguing piece, but he has been mostly disappointing since being selected with the 27th pick in the 2024 Draft.

This might be more intriguing for Chicago's front office:

Timberwolves Receive

  • PG Coby White

Bulls Receive

  • PG Mike Conley Jr.
  • SF Joe Ingles
  • 2026 First-round pick

This gets the Bulls a pair of veterans on expiring contracts and a first, not a bad return for a team in semi-rebuild mode.

The Timberwolves are likely to be a playoff team, so the pick would likely be in the 20s. reasonable for the Wolves to pay for a player who could help them advance deep into the playoffs.

Zion Williamson to Bulls? Trade Rumors, Mock Trade

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bulls have had talks with the Pelicans about PF Zion Williamson and C Yves Missi. Chicago hasn't been able to land a superstar in recent years, so adding Williamson would be a nice change of pace.

However, Williamson comes with injury concerns, as he's played in more than 61 games in a season just once across his five NBA seasons.

Pelicans Receive

  • C Nikola Vucevic
  • C Zach Collins
  • F Julian Phillips
  • 2026 first-round pick
  • 2027 second-round pick

Bulls Receive

  • F Zion Williamson
  • C Yves Missi

In the this scenario, the Pelicans clear their books, with Vucevic and Collins set to be free agents after the season. The main return for the Pelicans here is the two picks — and if Williamson were to suffer yet another injury with Chicago, that could end up giving them a lottery slot.

When healthy, Williamson is still productive, and pairing him with young Bulls like Giddey and F Matas Buzelis would make for an interesting trio to lead the franchise forward. Missi would also sure up the center position after they lose Vucevic and Collins.

Kings Trade Domantas Sabonis to Bulls? Trade Rumors, Mock Trade

Chicago has reportedly shown interest in acquiring Kings C Domantas Sabonis.

With Vucevic set to become a free agent this year, the Bulls could have a hole at center, a void that Sabonis would fill as he still has two seasons left on his contract. However, he’s expensive, making $45.5 million in 2026-27 and $48.6 million in 2027-28.

Kings Receive

  • C Nikola Vucevic
  • C Zach Collins
  • SG Jevon Carter
  • 2027 second-round pick
  • 2028 second-round pick

Bulls Receive

  • C Domantas Sabonis

This is basically a salary dump for the Kings, as Vucevic, Collins, and Carter are all on expiring contracts. Given his hefty deal, it could be difficult for the Kings to also get a first-round pick for Sabonis. In this trade proposal, they receive a couple of seconds to at least give them some additional draft capital.

Acquiring Sabonis doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Bulls. Like Vucevic, he is not a good interior defender. The Bulls should be looking to acquire young players who are on the same timeline as Giddey and Buzelis. Sabonis, who will be 30 heading into next season, doesn’t fit that mold.

That said, Sabonis is a solid passer. However, Giddey needs to have the ball in his hands to reach his full potential, so the Bulls might not be able to take advantage one of Sabonis’ best attributes.

Chicago needs a defensive presence in the middle around whom they can build, which is not Sabonis.
