The Rams have a lot of ground to make up after a rough start. They are currently 3-4, but the 49ers lead them by three games in the NFC West. The good news is that, including today, they have three straight games against teams with losing records.

Injuries have played a major role in the Rams’ struggles. Their biggest acquisition, EDGE Myles Garrett, had a brief debut before suffering a knee injury in Week 1 and going on IR.

The defense has dealt with multiple injuries. CB Trent McDuffie has a groin issue that's kept him out of the last two games, but his return to practice this week is encouraging. LB Nate Landman missed Week 7 with a concussion but has also returned to practice.

L.A. also suffered significant injuries to the WR room. Puka Nacua missed two games due to a groin injury, and WR Davante Adams could miss the next two months with a ruptured hamstring.

Reigning MVP QB Matthew Stafford still has great command of the offense, leading the league in passing yards (1,989) entering Week 8. Still, the Rams may need to balance the run and pass while making some defensive stops to win this matchup.

The Chargers might keep Stafford quiet, as they rank ninth in passing yards allowed per game (206.2). Unfortunately, they don't have much else to help remain competitive.

The defense ranks 22nd in PPG (25.2), and the offense has struggled all year long. The Chargers score the fewest PPG (15.0), largely because they can't throw the ball. Justin Herbert has been one of the league’s worst QBs, ranking 28th in completion rate (59.4%) and 33rd in EPA per dropback (-0.24).

Los Angeles brought in offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel to elevate an offense that fell short of expectations last year, but with how much it’s regressed, McDaniel may not have this job much longer with another poor performance.

Chargers vs. Rams Prediction on Spread – 11/1/26

Here are the key stats and predictions behind our Chargers vs. Rams pick against the spread for Sunday, November 1.

  • According to RBSDM, the Chargers have the league's least productive offense and rank last in EPA per play (-0.20). The Rams' defense is seventh in EPA/play allowed (-0.04).
  • The Chargers struggle in the red zone, sitting just 23rd in conversion rate (50.0%). The Rams are exceptional at preventing opponents from scoring there, ranking fifth in conversion rate allowed (44.4%).
  • The Rams are only 26th in takeaways per game (0.9). However, the Chargers have the most giveaways per game (2.5).
  • Head coach Sean McVay's group is excellent at forcing quick offensive possessions, ranking seventh in opposing three-and-out rate (22.7%).
  • The Chargers' pass protection has failed them, sitting 26th in sacks allowed (21) and 30th in pressure rate allowed (26.7%). Even though the Rams only rank 27th in sacks (11), they might find success. In the Chargers’ Week 6 loss to the Chiefs, Kansas City recorded 4 sacks. The Chiefs are 29th in total sacks (8).
