Iowa State QB Rocco Becht Projection: 228.5 Passing Yards

  • Iowa State QB Rocco Becht finished third in the Big 12 last season with 3,505 passing yards.
  • Becht passed for over 228 yards in 9-of-14 games last season.
  • Becht threw for 230 yards against Kansas State in 2023 and 137 in 2024.
  • Becht was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watchlist, which is presented to the top senior or upperclassman quarterback.
  • Kansas State was ninth in the Big 12 in passing yards allowed per game last season (224.7).
  • Iowa State’s defense will look fairly new, as they only returned five starters from last season, which could make this a more offensive-forward showdown in Dublin.

Kansas QB Jalon Daniels Projection: 242.5 Pass+Rush Yards

  • Kansas QB Jalon Daniels saw career-highs in 2024, including passing yards (2,454), pass attempts (300), and rushing yards (439).
  • Daniels had over 242 passing + rushing yards in 7 of his final 10 games last season.
  • The offense might center around Daniels a little more this season with former Kansas RB Devin Neal now in the NFL. He was fourth in the Big 12 in rushing touchdowns (16) and fifth in rushing yards (1,266).
  • Last season, Fresno State was a below-average rush defense. According to PFF, their 76.7 defensive grade ranked 76th last year.

Kansas State WR Jayce Brown Projection: 55.5 Receiving Yards

  • Kansas State WR Jayce Brown was the team’s leader in receptions (47), receiving yards (823), and yards per catch (17.5) in 2024.
  • Brown had more 55 receiving yards in 8-of-13 games last season.
  • Brown was named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List for the most outstanding wide receiver in college football.
  • Brown had one of his best performances last season against Iowa State by catching 3 passes for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns.
  • That performance was against an Iowa State pass defense that was third in the country in passing yards per game (169.0).
  • However, the Cyclones lost several key players in the secondary, including CB Myles Purchase, CB Darien Porter, and S Malik Verdon.

Hawaii WR Nick Cenacle Projection: 70.5 Receiving Yards

  • Last season, Hawaii WR Nick Cenacle led Hawaii in receptions (63) and receiving yards (721).
  • Cenacle was named to the 2025 Preseason Mountain West team
  • Cenacle finished the 2024 season strong as he had more than 70 receiving yards in his final four games, while only doing it once in his first eight.
  • Hawaii emphasizes a fast-paced offense, as last season, they were 17th in the FBS in offensive plays per game (73.4).
  • Hawaii was also a heavy-passing team, as their 60.49% pass play rate was fourth in the nation in 2024.
  • Stanford had one of the worst pass defenses last year; their 287.5 passing yards allowed per game was 129th out of 134 FBS programs.

Kansas State RB Dylan Edwards Projection: 79.5 Rushing Yards

  • Kansas State RB Dylan Edwards finished third on the team with 546 rushing yards last season.
  • Edwards was the RB2 for the Wildcats last season, and he'll be replacing RB DJ Giddens in 2025, as Giddens left for the NFL.
  • Edwards' first chance at the feature back role was in the Rate Bowl against Rutgers. In that game had 18 carries for 196 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Iowa State's run defense was not good last season. Their 189.5 rushing yards allowed per game was 105th, and their 5.5 yards per carry was 125th.

Stanford RB Michal Ford Projection: 11.5 Rush Attempts

  • Last season, Stanford RB Michal Ford was second on the team in rush attempts (78).
  • This was because QB Ashton Daniels, who transferred to Auburn, led the team in rush attempts. Former Oregon State QB Ben Gulbranson is now the starting quarterback for Stanford, and is a traditional pocket passer with only 0.6 yards per carry in 59 career attempts.
  • Hawaii will allow opponents to run the ball; last season, they were 53rd at 34.7 rush attempts allowed per game and 108th in opponents' run play percentage (56.02%).
  • The Golden Rainbow Warriors will have a whole new unit to try to defend the run due to the departures of DT Daniel Wiiliams, DT Ezra Evaimalo, DT Dion Washington, and DT Malachi Finau.
