New York Jets RB Breece Hall continues to make progress with his quadriceps injury that’s kept him out since Week 4.

There was hope that Hall would play last week vs. the Las Vegas Raiders, but he was held out for a fifth straight game. Next up for the Jets is a road matchup at the Kansas City Chiefs in NFL Week 9. Could this finally be the week that Hall gets back on the field?

Hall’s absence has paved the way for backup RB Braelon Allen to shine. Allen has played so well that now Hall is once again the subject of trade rumors. When Hall makes it back into the lineup, it’ll be fascinating to see the way snaps are split with the emerging Allen.

Below, we’ll get into the latest Breece Hall injury update, his latest practice status, and his impact for fantasy football and Jets vs. Chiefs picks for PrizePicks.

Breece Hall Injury Update: Will Hall Play in Week 9 vs. Chiefs?

Hall (quadriceps) hasn’t played since the Week 3 loss at the Detroit Lions. He was a limited participant during Wednesday’s practice.

Reported by ESPN’s Rich Cimini on Wednesday, Hall is reportedly “poised to return, likely this week” against the host Chiefs. Furthermore, Hall said he's ready to go for Week 9.

Hall would be returning in the midst of a three-game losing streak by the Jets. He already struggled in his last two games, also both losses, so there might need to be some patience as he works his way back from the injury.

Meanwhile, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is diffusing the trade rumors about Hall. The NFL trade deadline is set for next Tuesday.

"Listen, Breece is still a part of this team," Glenn said. "I understand how the noise happens when things like this happen. I've said it before: We're in the business of keeping good players, and he's one of our better players. So Breece will still be here."

Below, we’ll break down what it could mean for fantasy football and Jets picks for PrizePicks in Week 9 based on Hall’s availability.

Jets Fantasy Football Outlook If Breece Hall Is Playing vs. Chiefs

Based on reports, it appears Hall could make his return against the Chiefs this week.

After signing a three-year, $43.5 million contract extension earlier this year, the 5-foot-11, 217-pound Hall is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry this season. On the other hand, the larger Allen (6-foot-1, 242 pounds) has stepped up to produce 565 yards, 3 TDs, and 5.0 yards per carry.

Allen’s impact and upside is undeniable. He’s coming off a career-high 147 yards in the loss vs. the Raiders.

Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich describes the scenario as having two No. 1 caliber running backs. But Glenn appears to be going back to Hall as the designated RB1 whenever he’s cleared to play.

"Breece is our starter -- he's always been our starter -- but Braelon is going to get touches too," Glenn said.

The elite Chiefs defense ranks eighth in rushing yards per game. If Hall is good to go, the Jets could aim to attack Kansas City with a blend of Hall and Allen, whose styles complement each other.

According to PrizePicks, Hall is projected for 41.5 rush yards, 13.5 receiving yards, and 12.5 rush attempts vs. the Chiefs. Meanwhile, Allen sports 32.5 rush yards, 10.5 receiving yards, and 9.5 rush yards for Week 9.

Hall seems set to return vs. the Chiefs on Sunday. Glenn said he’s still the Jets’ starting running back, yet Hall could get fewer touches now that Allen has proven himself. It’ll be intriguing to see how the workload plays out.
