49ers vs. Rams TD Scorer Picks Today for NFL Week 1

There is no shortage of Player Touchdown options for Thursday’s contest, with over two dozen players to choose from.

The Player Touchdowns stat category on PrizePicks includes rushing, receiving, fumble recoveries, and all returns. PrizePicks often lists Player TDs as Demons and Goblins, which means they have higher or lower payouts than standard.

Demons are more difficult to win but are the only way to get higher payouts. Meanwhile, Goblins are easier to win than a standard projection, so they come with a lower payout.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey: 0.5 Player TDs (Goblin)

Christian McCaffrey opens his 10th NFL season in Melbourne, taking on one of the league's most star-studded defensive units. The Rams made several significant moves this summer, acquiring reigning DPOY DE Myles Garrett and former First-Team All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie.

As if that weren't enough, three-time DPOY DT Aaron Donald came out of retirement and signed a new one-year deal with his former team.

Fortunately for McCaffrey and the 49ers offense, Donald has been ruled out for Thursday's game as he continues building his conditioning. The dual-threat RB has historically given the Rams fits, scoring 5 TDs across four games against Los Angeles since joining San Francisco in 2022.

The 30-year-old is coming off a 17-TD season in which he served as head coach Kyle Shanahan's primary red-zone weapon. Per FantasyPros, McCaffrey led all RBs with 74 red-zone carries, accounting for 84.1% of the 49ers' goal-line rushing attempts.

He converted 15 of his 17 TDs within 20 yards of the end zone and added 20 receptions in that area as well. Even with the attention he draws near the goal line, few defenses have found a way to stop him when he gets his touches.

Rams WR Puka Nacua: 0.5 Player TDs (Demon)

The Rams' superstar WR made headlines over the summer due to off-the-field issues and injury concerns. Despite some questions surrounding his availability, Nacua appears safe from any league discipline to start the season, though that may not be the case in the coming weeks.

Regardless, the First-Team All-Pro is cleared for the opener and figures to produce whenever he's on the field.

Nacua's breakout sophomore season saw the 25-year-old lead the league with 129 receptions and 14 total TDs, including the playoffs. The 49ers had a clear game plan to limit him in their two matchups last season, yet still allowed QB Matthew Stafford and his top target to connect for a score in each regular-season contest.

The Rams don't prioritize Nacua in the red zone as heavily as WR Davante Adams, and he saw just 17% of the target share near the goal line last season, per FantasyPros. Even so, Nacua converted his opportunities at a high rate, scoring 8 of his 10 regular-season TDs within 20 yards of the end zone.

His sure hands and elite route running make him a threat from close range, but his big-play ability makes him dangerous anywhere on the field.

With a suspension perhaps looming for L.A.'s star WR, don't be surprised to see McVay emphasize getting the ball to one of his biggest playmakers while he's still available.
