Wrexham are set to host Chelsea at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday afternoon for Round 5 of the FA Cup. The Welsh side enters the fixture in spectacular form, unbeaten in their last five games, winning four and drawing once in that span.

Phil Parkinson’s squad will hope to continue the stellar play of late when they take on a Chelsea side coming off an impressive victory over Aston Villa during the midweek. Liam Rosenior’s squad hasn’t been in great form recently, posting a 2-2-1 record in their last five games.

This FA Cup matchup is set to kick off Saturday, March 7, at 12:45 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Below, we’ll break down our Wrexham vs. Chelsea FA Cup predictions and picks for Saturday afternoon’s matchup. Make your FA Cup picks on PrizePicks and PrizePicks Team Picks and earn real money if you’re right, including on players, goal totals, and more!

Wrexham vs. Chelsea Prediction, Picks for Saturday, March 7

Wrexham will look to defeat yet another EPL side in the FA Cup after reaching the fifth round for the first time since the 1996-1997 season. The Welsh club defeated Nottingham Forest in a penalty shootout in the third round back in January.

However, Chelsea have been a much stronger team than Nottingham Forest and easily the toughest opponent Parkinson’s club has faced to this point. The Blues have dominated in the FA Cup, winning their two games by a combined score of 9-1.

Luckily for Wrexham, Rosenior could opt to at least begin the contest with players who typically would not make the squad’s strongest XI. This includes João Pedro, arguably the most in-form attacking player in world football.

The Brazilian striker is coming off a hat-trick performance on Wednesday and has 5 goals and 1 assist in his last five games. Pedro has yet to appear for Chelsea in the FA Cup this season.

It'll be interesting to see how Rosenior approaches this game, given that Wrexham is a stronger side than any that Chelsea has faced thus far. Wrexham are in the midst of fighting for a promotion spot in the championship and have scored the third-most goals (33) at home in the league.

Should Rosenior decide to utilize his squad depth to start this fixture, Wrexham must jump out to a quick start and hope to find themselves ahead with their home crowd behind them before Chelsea’s star power takes over.
