TreVeyon Henderson Injury Update: Will Patriots RB Return in Week 2?
Henderson appears to be trending in the right direction ahead of New England’s Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Wednesday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel revealed that Henderson would increase his practice workload.
The second-year RB logged a limited practice Monday as the team began preparing for Pittsburgh.
“We’ll continue to evaluate that and see where he is, and hopefully that continues to trend in the right direction,” Vrabel said, per Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald.
Henderson recently led the Patriots in carries (180), rushing yards (911), rushing TDs (9), and yards per carry (5.1) despite sharing the backfield with RB Rhamondre Stevenson. The 2025 second-round pick played in all 17 games as a rookie.

New England certainly could've used Henderson's electric running ability in Week 1, when the team mustered just 3.5 yards per carry and Seattle held the ground attack in check for most of the contest.
According to FantasyPros, Henderson was taken 69th overall on average in full-point PPR fantasy leagues, leaving fantasy managers without one of their top draft picks in Week 1.
If Henderson sits out Week 2, RB Rhamondre Stevenson could be in line for a heavy workload again. Stevenson carried the ball 18 times for 51 yards (2.8 YPC) against the Seahawks, who ranked first in EPA per rush allowed last season at -0.206, per RBSDM.
The Steelers are more vulnerable against the run.
In 2025, Pittsburgh ranked 24th in EPA per rushing play (-0.035). Fast forward to Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, and RB Bijan Robinson just rushed for 83 yards, including several chunk plays against the Steelers’ front seven.
According to PlayerProfiler, Stevenson received an 85.1% snap share, which ranked third among all NFL RBs in Week 1. If Henderson is out, that number isn’t expected to change.
