After a slow start to the season, the New England Patriots are back to their winning ways and have secured back-to-back impressive victories. Unfortunately for head coach Mike Vrabel’s group, though, it might be without the services of a top young player for a bit.

Sophomore RB TreVeyon Henderson sustained an ankle injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s 45-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, leaving his status in question as a result.

We’ll outline the latest TreVeyon Henderson injury update and its potential impact on Patriots fantasy football picks and projections for PrizePicks.

TreVeyon Henderson Injury Update: When Will Henderson Return?

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Henderson is nursing a high-ankle sprain that is “expected to sideline him multiple weeks.” Although the former second-round pick is “regarded as a quick healer,” it remains to be seen how many games he’ll end up sitting for.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Vrabel didn’t offer any certainties besides the team continuing to monitor the standout halfback’s progress in injury rehab.

This marks the continuation of what’s been a somewhat frustrating year for Henderson. He missed Week 1 due to an ankle sprain suffered during an August practice, making this his second lower-body injury in the last couple of months.

In four games played, the former Ohio State star has toted the ball 42 times for 163 yards and a TD, good for just 3.9 yards per carry. Not only that, but his success rate is down to 38.7% after it sat at 51.7% as a rookie. Henderson’s volume has remained almost identical, evidenced by an average decrease of just 0.1 attempts each time out, but he’s failed to remain super effective.

The Patriots host the New York Jets on Sunday before having a quick turnaround to hit the road and face the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football in Week 7. After that, November 1 and 8 see games against the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers, respectively.

Patriots Fantasy Football & Rhamondre Stevenson Outlook With Henderson Injured

With Henderson’s Sunday being abbreviated, backup Rhamondre Stevenson was thrust back into the lineup as the first-string back. He made the most of his increased opportunity, recording 64 yards and a TD on 13 carries and even breaking off a 20-yard scamper. Is the New England offense doomed with the expected shift from Henderson to Stevenson? Not so fast.

On 216 offensive snaps, good for 64% of those available, Stevenson owns a 52.6% success rate and an average of 5.8 yards per touch. According to SumerSports, he’s been good for more EPA per rush (-0.05) than his counterpart (-0.14). Pro Football Focus shows that his average yards after contact per carry of 3.12 also trumps Henderson’s 2.79 figure.

Stevenson is a potential weapon for QB Drake Maye in the passing game, too. He owns a 12.75% target share on offense, far and away better than Henderson’s 3.39% split. Last season, Stevenson converted on 32 of 37 targets and netted a personal best 59.5% receiving success rate.

Elsewhere on the depth chart, former Arizona Cardinal Corey Kiner is RB3 in town. He had 6 carries for 52 yards in Week 5, albeit with a lost fumble as well. Hassan Haskins and Lan Larison are also on the practice squad.

Right now, Stevenson’s main Week 6 projection for PrizePicks is 0.5 Anytime TDs (Goblin).

Over on PrizePicks, New England is a 6.5-point favorite over visiting New York and returns a 1.26x payout with a Week 6 win.
