Timberwolves vs. Pacers Prediction, Winner, Over/Under for NBA Preseason – Wednesday, October 7

The Pacers begin their preseason by welcoming back G Tyrese Haliburton to the court for the first time in 16 months. Ironically, Haliburton will make his long-awaited return at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa, where he played for Iowa State in two seasons.

Haliburton tore his right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals and missed the entire 2025-26 season to recover. The Pacers star did compete in the team’s annual Pacers FanJam scrimmage on Sunday, scoring 8 points and dishing out 4 assists in a 12-minute showcase.

Meanwhile, despite finishing with the second-fewest wins (19) in the NBA in 2025-26, the Pacers still made a splash at the trade deadline. Indiana landed C Ivica Zubac in a trade involving wing Bennedict Mathurin and multiple first-round picks.

Zubac started just five games with the Pacers last season because of ankle and rib injuries. The Pacers tallied the sixth-fewest rebounds per game (41.9), and Zubac should help considerably on the glass.

Since this is Indiana’s first preseason contest, the team may roll with its expected regular-season starting five: Haliburton, G Andrew Nembhard, F Aaron Nesmith, F Pascal Siakam, and Zubac.

Meanwhile, in the Timberwolves’ preseason opener on Monday, G LaMelo Ball made his Minnesota debut after the team acquired him in a four-team trade with the Charlotte Hornets in July. Ball scored 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists in 17 minutes. The former Rookie of the Year had a chance to share the floor with new teammate, SG Anthony Edwards, who scored 14 points in 18 minutes.

It’s unclear if the Timberwolves plan to play a significant number of their starters since they did play against the Bucks. While Minnesota had an off day on Tuesday, head coach Chris Finch might decide to give some players night off on Wednesday.

The Timberwolves will be without G Donte DiVincenzo on Wednesday, as he's still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in the 2026 NBA playoffs.

Timberwolves vs. Pacers Prediction on Over/Under for NBA Preseason – 10/7/26

Here are the key stats and predictions behind our Timberwolves vs. Pacers prediction on the over/under for Wednesday’s NBA preseason game.

  • Despite scoring 116 points in Monday’s opener, the Timberwolves shot just 25.7% (9-of-35) from 3-point land against the Bucks. Ball and G Antonio Reeves were the only two Minnesota players who connected on multiple treys, drilling two shots apiece from beyond the arc.
  • If Ball or Edwards plays limited minutes, the Timberwolves may not enjoy as much perimeter success.
  • The Timberwolves were a sound defensive unit in 2025-26, holding their opponents to 46.2% shooting per contest (seventh in the NBA).
  • It’s hard to imagine the Pacers having Haliburton play a substantial amount of minutes in his first game back. As a result, it’s possible that Indiana’s first unit won’t get a ton of time together.
  • The under is 7-3 in the last 10 regular-season meetings between the Timberwolves and Pacers.
