Week 4’s edition of Thursday Night Football will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) against the Cleveland Browns (2-1) at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video. The Steelers come in as 2.5-point road favorites on PrizePicks, and points could be hard to come by, as this matchup has a mere 38.5-point total.

The Steelers looked sluggish on offense the first two weeks, but QB Aaron Rodgers and company finally came alive in Week 3, winning a 30-27 shootout at home over the Bengals. Meanwhile, most onlookers assumed Browns QB Deshaun Watson would be riding the bench by now, yet he remains the starter following back-to-back wins.

Below, we’ll break down our Steelers vs. Browns prediction and picks for Week 4’s Thursday Night Football game tonight, including the spread, over/under, and top player picks for PrizePicks.

Steelers vs. Browns Prediction, Spread, Over/Under for Thursday Night Football – 10/1/26

The Steelers’ offense is coming off easily its best performance of the early season after racking up 30 points and 411 total yards against the Bengals. This included Aaron Rodgers completing 19 of 34 passes for 292 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 INT, along with RB Jaylen Warren rumbling for 127 rushing yards on 17 carries.

While that perhaps gives the team renewed confidence entering Thursday, this attack is still 26th in points per game (17.7) and 22nd in yards per game (303.3). Still, it’s a big step in the right direction for a Rodgers-led offense that scored just one offensive touchdown over the first two weeks.

Of course, Pittsburgh also gave up 27 points in Week 3, but that can probably be forgiven when you’re up against an offense that boasts QB Joe Burrow, WR Ja’Marr Chase, and WR Tee Higgins. On the season, the Steelers’ defense has allowed the 11th-fewest points per game (20.0) and the seventh-fewest yards per game (305.7).

The Browns’ offense hasn’t exactly been a well-oiled machine with Deshaun Watson under center, but following a 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, Watson has done just enough to help Cleveland to two straight come-from-behind wins.

In Week 2, the Browns scored a late touchdown to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road 23-19, and then they pulled off a similar feat last week at home, finding the end zone with under two minutes left to defeat the Carolina Panthers 21-18. Watson threw for multiple scores in both victories, and just as importantly, he didn’t turn the ball over.

The Cleveland signal-caller now ranks 18th among 34 qualified QBs in adjusted EPA/play (0.127), per RBSDM. This is still a team that’s just 25th in points per game (18.0) and 30th in yards per game (266.0), but maybe Watson can do enough to keep the team competitive if he continues to perform like he has the past two games.

Of course, much of that is contingent on the Browns’ defense continuing to play at a high level.

While Cleveland’s D is middle of the pack in points per game (23.7) and yards per game (344.3), much of that has to do with their dreadful performance against the Jags. In that game, the Browns allowed 0.310 EPA/play and a 59.3% success rate, and those numbers probably would’ve been even worse if the game hadn't been effective over early in the third quarter.

Over the two weeks since, the Browns’ defense has allowed -0.141 EPA/play and a 37.1% success rate, both of which are elite marks. While we can’t entirely ignore that Week 1 faceplant, it’s possible this defense could be better than its season-long numbers would suggest.

Steelers vs. Browns Prediction on Spread for Thursday Night Football – 10/1/26

Here are the key stats and trends behind our Steelers vs. Browns prediction on the spread for Thursday, October 1.

  • Despite last week’s encouraging performance, Pittsburgh’s offense enters Thursday ranked 29th in EPA/play (-0.141) and 26th in success rate (40.2%).
  • Rodgers ranks 31st out of 34 QBs in adjusted EPA/play (-0.102).
  • According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Browns’ defense has generated the fifth-highest pressure rate this season (41.5%).
  • Over the past two weeks, Cleveland's D ranks fourth with -0.184 dropback EPA/play allowed and fifth in dropback success rate (36.8%).
  • While Pittsburgh’s defense has performed well by most metrics, its actually just 18th in defensive success rate (44.7%).
  • The Steelers’ defense could be more vulnerable against the run, ranking 22nd in EPA/rush (-0.043) and 23rd in rush success rate (43.1%). Perhaps that helps Browns RB Quinshon Judkins get going, who’s averaged just 3.0 yards per carry so far.
  • Pittsburgh opened the year 0-1 on the road, losing to the New England Patriots 20-3 in Week 2.

Steelers vs. Browns Picks, Player Stats for TNF on PrizePicks: 10/1/26

Here are the top Steelers vs. Browns picks to target on Thursday, October 1. Today’s NFL picks for PrizePicks include Jaylen Warren and KC Concepcion.

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren vs. Browns: 73.5 Rush Yards

  • RB Rico Dowdle has been ruled out for Thursday’s game. With Dowdle out in Week 3, Warren carried the ball 17 times for 127 rushing yards and played 90.3% of the snaps.
  • Cleveland’s defense ranks 21st in rush EPA/play allowed (-0.051) and has allowed the 10th-most rushing yards per game (120.3).
  • Even with the defense playing much better the last two weeks, the Browns allowed RB Bucky Irving to rush for 89 yards and RB Chuba Hubbard to rush for 82 yards.
  • Given the low spread and modest total for this matchup, the Steelers might not fall into a deep enough hole to completely abandon the run game.
  • PFF gives Pittsburgh’s offensive line the third-best run-blocking grade through three weeks.
  • Among running backs with at least 20 carries this year, Warren ranks sixth in yards after contact per attempt (3.87).
