Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay World Cup 2026 Prediction, Spread, Total Goals — Monday, June 15

How to watch Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay: FS1

Kickoff Time: 6:00 p.m. ET

Venue: Miami Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL, USA

Group: Group H

There are many unknowns for this Uruguayan team, including multiple key starters whose injury status is up in the air heading into Monday night.

CB Ronald Araujo is a doubt, and CB José María Giménez has been ruled out. Backup CB Sebastian Caceres is questionable. CAM Giorgian de Arrascaeta is certain to miss the match, although LB Matías Viña is expected to be available.

There’s also the fact this side hasn’t played a match together since March. We didn’t get a chance to see how Marcelo Bielsa’s high-intensity pressing would work in the brutal North American heat.

What is known is the clear advantage that La Celeste holds in midfield. It all starts with Real Madrid everything-man Fede Valverde, who can operate in multiple positions but likely will be the right midfielder in a 4-4-2 setup.

He'll link up with CM Manuel Ugarte and CM Rodrigo Bentancur, all of whom will be looking to feed ST Darwin Núñez. Maxi Araújo also provides a goal threat off the left side and will be a key piece of their high press.

Saudi Arabian manager Georgios Donis took over after Herve Renard was fired just two months ago and has never managed before on the international stage. He doesn’t operate with any particular system but typically has adjusted to his talent base.

That’s a positive for him, given his extensive history in the Saudi domestic league combined with nearly every player on the roster coming from the Saudi professional setup. However, trying to figure out how you want to set up your team with just three warm-up matches is a tricky proposition.

The Saudis did manage a scoreless draw with Senegal in their final warm-up despite the absence of injured first-choice GK Nawaf Al-Aqidi, as they sat back and played a compact defense while hitting on the counterattack.

We very well could see that same setup here. If they’re to break Uruguay’s press, they may get some opportunities against this injury-riddled back line. That’s a big if though, given Bielsa’s tactics and the midfield talent Uruguay possesses.

Uruguay is favored for a reason. Their talent is vastly superior, a key reason why they sit 45 spots ahead of Saudi Arabia in the FIFA world rankings and are 16 spots ahead of them in our PrizePicks Power Rankings

Just whether that talent will be enough to overcome a pesky Saudi defensive structure remains to be seen.

Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay Prediction on Total Goals for World Cup 2026

Here are the key stats and trends for Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay before making your World Cup 2026 predictions on PrizePicks.

  • The Saudis may sit back much more under their new manager given his tactical setup during their two warm-up matches. This is a strong difference from Renard, who wanted his teams to attack more often regardless of a talent gap.
  • This is evidenced by their 2-1 loss to Ecuador on May 30, when they held much more possession and picked apart on the counterattack, allowing 6 shots on target.
  • The Saudis became much more pragmatic in their final warm-up with Senegal, a scoreless draw that saw the two teams combine for just 16 shots. It was just the second time in 12 matches that Senegal was held scoreless.
  • Uruguay comes into the match having allowed just 7 goals in their last nine matches. Five of those goals came in a friendly on Nov. 18, 2025, against the United States.
  • On the flip side, Uruguay has scored just 10 goals in those nine matches, with six of the nine outings featuring no more than 2 goals scored.
  • The lack of warm-up matches could see Uruguay get off to a slow start. In addition, the absence of key playmaker Giorgian de Arrascaeta leaves them without their best creator in the final third.

Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay Picks, Player Stats for World Cup: 6/15/26

Here are the top Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay player picks to target on PrizePicks for Monday, June 15. Today’s World Cup 2026 picks are headlined by Mohammed Ai Owais and Fede Valverde.

Saudi Arabia GK Mohammed Ai Owais vs. Uruguay: 3.5 Saves

  • Since Mohammed Ai Owais has taken over in net, he’s been a rock for Saudi Arabia, especially under his new manager. He kept a clean sheet in their final warm-up against Senegal, including a penalty save.
  • In his three friendlies under Donis, Ai Owais has made at least 4 saves in every match and 17 in total.
  • This includes a 2-1 loss to a highly-rated Ecuador team where he stopped 4 shots of the 6 shots on target.
  • During CONMEBOL qualification, Uruguay averaged 3.2 shots on target per match.
  • However, Saudi Arabia allowed 41 shots in their three friendlies, with 21 of those being put on target.
Combine Mohammed Ai Owais + Saudi Arabia World Cup picks for bigger payouts on PrizePicks.

Uruguay CM Fede Valverde vs. Saudi Arabia: 43.5 Passes (Discounted From 64.5)

  • Everything Uruguay does in attack runs through Fede Valverde. The dynamic Real Madrid midfielder averaged 58.5 passes per match in his last four international appearances, playing the full 90 minutes.
  • Despite being just the fourth-highest passer on Madrid’s team, he still averaged 62.38 passes per 90 minutes.
  • Valverde has attempted at least 44 passes in eight of his last nine appearances for the national team where he played more than one half of football.
  • With how the Saudis are likely to sit back and Uruguay’s relentless pressing under Bielsa, Uruguay could hold a far higher amount of possession than their opponents.
  • Fede’s pass total is discounted today via PrizePicks today. Discounts lower a player projection for a limited time, making the More side easier to hit than the original number.
Combine Uruguay + Valverde World Cup picks for bigger payouts on PrizePicks.
