2026 World Cup Group H Winner Prediction: Pick Spain?
Spain to Win Group H: Yes 1.21x | No 4x
Spain to Win 2026 World Cup: Yes 5x | No 1.16x
Spain has been the favorites to win the 2026 World Cup for some time now, and for good reason. They won the 2024 European Championships in convincing fashion, as they defeated Germany, France, and England in the knockout stages.
La Roja claimed their first World Cup crown back in 2010 in South Africa, and are hopeful of adding to that trophy collection. They outscored their UEFA qualification opponents 21-2 in six matches thanks to an embarrassment of talent.
Spain is deep at nearly every position, but it’s their midfield that will be the driving force behind their success. The trio of Rodri, Pedri, and Fabian Ruiz will patrol the central midfield position, with RB Marcos Llorente and LB Marc Cucurella pushing forward to support them in a central overload.
Their roles will be to distribute to a front line anchored by ST Mikel Oyarzabal. He will be flanked on either side by the likes of RW Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, while forward Ferran Torres provides the ability to play all three positions. All eyes will be on Yamal, once he’s back from injury.
Spain will set up in a 4-3-3 and look to dominate the possession, utilizing the world-class technical ability at their disposal. They’ll also swarm opponents and look to win possession back quickly when they lose it.

Uruguay – World Cup Group H Prediction, Preview
To win Group H: Yes 4.54x | No 1.17x
To qualify for Knockout Stage: Yes 1.09x | No 5.88x
Uruguay won the very first World Cup tournament back in 1930, and then won it again in 1950. They reached the semi-finals in 2010 thanks to the controversial handball by Luis Suarez. That was his first World Cup tournament, and he misses out here for the first time since.
La Celeste qualified for the 2026 World Cup behind an inconsistent showing in CONMEBOL qualification, where they defeated Brazil twice and defeated Argentina on the road. Marcelo Bielsa’s side then took just three points from the last four matches, and finished fourth just ahead of Colombia.
Bielsa’s 4-3-3 setup is a possession-based system that looks to pressure teams relentlessly and play at a high intensity. That setup has worked for him at the club level, but it could be a detriment at the international stage.
Nonetheless, CM Fede Valverde will be the engine of everything this team does. He’s equally adept at winning the ball back as he is at creating chances in attack, as Real Madrid fans can attest to. He will line up alongside CM Rodrigo Bentancur.
Darwin Nunez and Rodrigo Aguirre will battle for the striker role, while LW Maximiliano Araujo and RW Brian Rodriguez flank them. CB Ronald Araujo and CB Jose Maria Gimenez will put aside their La Liga rivalry to partner in defense.
Uruguay enters the tournament without a win in four matches, and have no pre-tournament friendlies scheduled. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the opening match against Saudi Arabia, as they’ll likely need three points if they hope to advance.

Cape Verde – World Cup Group H Prediction, Preview
To win Group H: Yes 33.33x | No N/A
To qualify for Knockout Stage: Yes 2.56x | No 1.40x
The small archipelago of Cape Verde has a population of less than 525,000 people, but has qualified for their first-ever World Cup. They’ve done a tremendous job of recruiting dual-nationals, and managed to take 22-of-30 possible points from their African qualification matches to reach the tournament.
Cape Verde will set up typically in a 4-2-3-1 formation, looking to frustrate opponents in a compact low block while hitting on the counter-attack. Their most recent friendly against Serbia in March saw them secure a 3-0 win via a near flawless execution of that strategy.
Former Premier League RW Ryan Mendes is Cape Verde’s career goalscoring leader and will be their outlet on the break, while ST Dailon Rocha Livramento will operate through the middle. They’ll be supported on the opposite flank by Benfica LW Sidny Lopes Cabral, who also will play at left back when needed.
Cape Verde managed results in the past year against both Egypt and Iran in friendlies, and they carry the hopes and dreams of a tiny nation on their backs. That makes them a dangerous, motivated side that could cause problems if overlooked.

Saudi Arabia – World Cup Group H Prediction, Preview
To win Group H: Yes 33.33x | No N/A
To qualify for Knockout Stage: Yes 2.63x | No 1.44x
Saudi Arabia sent shockwaves through the 2022 World Cup by opening their group stage with a 2-1 win over eventual champions Argentina. Defeats to Poland and Mexico saw that result ultimately mean nothing.
Nevertheless, the Saudis are back in the World Cup for the seventh time in nine competitions. They barely got into this tournament though, edging out Iraq on goal differential after a fourth round of qualification in Asia. They also fired manager Herve Renard in April, and come into the tournament with a manager lacking international managerial experience.
The Saudis are going to play a 4-3-3 setup, pressuring opponents and looking to capitalize on mistakes. Their primary method of attack is via the wing, where they often will overload to get mismatches on opposing fullbacks.
LW Salem Al-Dawsari scored the winner against Argentina and is by far the best player in the squad, despite now being 34 years old. RW Marwan Al-Sahafi is a promising young player whose pace and dribbling ability makes him a threat on the counter-attack. Firas Al-Buraikan operates at striker, and led the team with 5 goals in qualification.
The Saudis have just one draw in their last five matches, losing four of them, and have scored only two goals in that span. This could be a very rough tournament for them if they’re unable to find someone who can generate opportunities for them in the midfield.

Spain and Uruguay are the clear favorites to qualify from Group H automatically, and their Matchday 3 showdown could decide the group winner.
Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia will each hope to beat the other and steal a point somewhere along the way to move forward themselves, but that may be an extremely difficult ask for either nation.
