Mariners vs. Tigers Prediction, Preview for 10/8/25
Seattle Mariners
The M’s scored a total of 5 runs in the first two games before busting out for 8 on Tuesday. C Cal Raleigh, 3B Eugenio Suarez, and SS J.P. Crawford each went deep, as Seattle improved to 6-1 in the last seven games against Detroit.
P Logan Gilbert struck out seven batters for Seattle, marking the second time in the series that a Mariners’ starting pitcher has compiled at least 7 Ks.
Detroit Tigers
The Tigers made it interesting in the ninth inning, scoring 3 runs to cut an 8-1 deficit to 8-4. Detroit’s rally was stymied as CF Parker Meadows lined into a double play to end the game.
Detroit has not won a home game since September 6, dropping eight consecutive contests at Comerica Park.
Mariners vs. Tigers Picks & MLB DFS
Mariners P Bryce Miller vs. Tigers Projection: 3.5 Strikeouts
- Miller (4-6, 5.68 ERA) is making his first start since September 28 against the Dodgers, when he struck out 2 batters in 4 innings.
- In each of his first five starts of the season, the right-hander racked up at least 4 strikeouts. In seven of his final 12 outings, he recorded 3 or fewer Ks.
- The 27-year-old owns a career-low strikeout rate of 18.9%, as he possesses the worst K rate of any Seattle starting pitcher.
- Although Miller’s projection is low, 15 of the last 17 opposing starting pitchers facing Detroit’s lineup have posted at least 6 strikeouts.
- Miller didn’t face the Tigers this season, but has held this lineup to a .231 average and 13 strikeouts in 52 at-bats.
Tigers P Casey Mize vs. Mariners Projection: 9.5 Outs
- Mize (14-6, 3.87 ERA) pitched well in his first playoff start against Cleveland, allowing 1 run and 1 hit in 3 innings.
- To bust this projection, the 28-year-old needs to record at least 1 out in the fourth inning.
- The former Auburn product lasted at least 4 innings in nine of his 10 starts to close the regular season.
- All three of Detroit starting pitchers have produced at least 10 outs in the ALDS.
- The top pick of the 2018 draft put together two dramatically different starts against Seattle this season. Mize tossed 5.2 scoreless innings in a road victory in April, but was knocked around for 6 runs in 3 innings of a July home loss.
Mariners CF Julio Rodriguez vs. Tigers Projection: 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs
- In spite of Seattle’s offensive outburst last night, Rodriguez went 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts.
- Since going 3-for-5 in the series opener, Rodriguez has compiled 1 hit in his last 9 at-bats.
- Rodriguez has not fared well against Mize, going hitless in three career at-bats.
- In four of the last six road games, J-Rod has stayed below this projection.
- The three-time All-Star batted 60 points higher on the road than at home, and 32 points better during the day than at night.
