Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp – 3 Players to Watch for Fantasy Football

The Kansas City Chiefs are their training camp on Monday, July 21, which begins their quest for another championship after falling flat in the 2025 Super Bowl.

With QB Patrick Mahomes leading the way, they should continue to have a potent offense that draws attention for fantasy football. However, with a potential suspension for WR Rashee Rice looming, there are some fantasy football storylines to watch for as training camp gets underway.

Let’s look at three players on the Chiefs to watch during training camp for fantasy football specifically —including Travis Kelce, Isiah Pacheco, and Xavier Worthy, including their fantasy football projections.

TE Travis Kelce

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has been among the top tight ends in fantasy football— if not the top tight end —  for many seasons. However, he has started to see his production decline.

In 2023, he recorded fewer than 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the first time since 2015. Last season, he finished with career lows in receiving yards (823) and receiving touchdowns (3). The good news was that he still had 97 receptions on 133 targets, as he was a security blanket for

Kelce turns 36 years old in October and is not as explosive as he was earlier in his career. Last season, he averaged just 3.7 yards after the catch. With his production declining, so is his Average Draft Position (ADP). According to FantasyPros, Kelce has an ADP of 78 and is fifth among tight ends. The Chiefs will likely give Kelce a light workload in training camp.

Note: Kelce's season-long projections are currently not available due to the pending Rashee Rice suspension.

RB Isiah Pacheco

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco looked like a potential fantasy star after his 2023 campaign. He received 205 carries over 14 games, rushing for 935 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught 44-of-49 targets for 244 yards and two touchdowns. A physical runner, Pacheco averaged at least 4.6 yards per carry in each of his first two seasons in the NFL.

Pacheco started off last season with 135 rushing yards and a touchdown over his first two games. He then suffered a leg injury that kept him out until Week 13. When he returned, he didn’t look like himself.

His workload eventually declined, including him receiving just 13 total carries in the playoffs.

With a healthy offseason under his belt, Pacheco enters training camp with a clear path to a lot of carries. Behind him on the depth chart is RB Kareem Hunt, who is about to turn 30 years old and who hasn’t averaged more than 3.8 yards per carry since 2021. There is also the often-injured Elijah Mitchell, who has totaled just 120 carries over the last three seasons.

According to FantasyPros, Pacheco has an ADP of 77. That number could rise if he looks healthy and explosive early in camp, which makes him worth watching closely.

WR Xavier Worthy

WR Rashee Rice was involved in a multi-car crash in 2024, and he was recently sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time for his role in it. That likely means that a suspension is coming, and it should be for multiple games. While he was coming off a torn LCL suffered early last year, he was expected to be the Chiefs' top wide receiver coming into this season.

With Rice expected to miss the start of the season, Chiefs' second-year WR Xavier Worthy should step into a leading role. Worthy had his ups and downs while filling in for Rice last season, finishing the season with 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns. He was explosive though, averaging 7.0 yards after the catch.

When it mattered the most, Worthy stepped up in the playoffs. In the AFC Championship Game, he had six receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown. In the Super Bowl, he had eight receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns — although most of it was in garbage time.

With his first full NFL offseason under his belt, a good training camp could help him have a more consistent 2025 regular season. According to FantasyPros, his current ADP is 61, which should continue to rise due to the Rice suspension.

Note: Worhty's season-long projections are currently not available due to the pending Rashee Rice suspension.
