Juventus vs. Galatasaray Prediction, Spread, Champions League Picks for 2/25

There have been more than 50 instances in the history of the Champions League where a team lost the first leg of a knockout tie by 3 or more goals. Only four clubs have ever managed to overcome the odds to advance. Juventus hopes to become the fifth.

But they’ll have to do so without numerous key players. FB Juan Cabal is suspended after his red card in the first leg, while Andrea Cambiaso’s yellow card accumulation sees him banned as well. FW Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik also miss out, along with FB Emil Holm.

The depleted Juventus side does welcome ST Jonathan David back after he missed the first leg. He leads an attack that must score at least 3 goals if they hope to force extra time. That will require improving on the 1.78 goals they’ve averaged in Champions League play.

Galatasaray have struggled away from home, but have a cushion to work with. That will enable them to absorb pressure while springing ST Victor Osimhen on the counter-attack. He also leads a press that forces 4.8 turnovers per match in their opponents final third, which led to multiple goals in the first leg.

The visitors face no significant injury concerns, with Osimhen ruled fully fit on Tuesday. Galatasaray have lost by 3 goals just once in their last 27 away fixtures, and will likely absorb pressure and look to find a counter-attacking goal that will solidify their place in the next round.

Juventus have hope. They rank in the top-ten in the competition with 5.78 shots on target per 90 minutes per FBRef. Meanwhile, Galatasaray allows 0.33 goals per shot on target, 13th-most among all teams in the Champions League.

Galatasaray GK Ugurcan Cakir Projections vs. Juventus: 2.5 Saves (Goblin), 1.5 Goals Allowed (Goblin)

  • Since allowing 5 goals in the opening match against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Turkish keeper has allowed just 8 goals over eight matches. However, he’s allowed a pair of goals in each of his last two outings.
