After Jayden Reed Injury, Who Can Be Packers WR1 for Fantasy Football?

Packers WR Jayden Reed could miss Week 1 with a foot injury. Find the two Packers WRs who could fill Reed's role if he misses time.

Packers WR Jayden Reed was spotted in a walking boot this weekend. Reed — the WR1 for Packers QB Jordan Love for the last two seasons — is dealing with foot injury that could force him to miss Week 1.

Reed’s injury was the focus of the Packers Week 1 Preseason game — a 30-10 loss to the Jets — as the offense struggled in a small sample-size.

Packers Offense Without Jayden Reed?

Love went just 1-for-5 with 7 yards in the Week 1 preseason game where he played two series. The lone catch came from the Packers rookie WR Matthew Golden.

Green Bay’s No. 23 overall pick impressed in his NFL debut, as he also drew a penalty against Jets CB Sauce Gardner.

Reed’s injury will likely force him to miss the rest of training camp, and potentially longer into the regular season. The 25-year-old has missed only one game in his two-year NFL career thus far.

Reed is the Packers' starting slot receiver, where he played 75.6% of his snaps last year. He ranked 10th in slot snaps last year across the NFL, per PFF.

Looking at the state of the Packers' receiving room if Reed were to miss time, there are a few key names that could step up should he miss some time that are worth noting for fantasy football.

We'll identify a few of the top Packers receivers who could fill that role.

Jayden Reed Injury: Fantasy Football Impact

While Reed has been Green Bay’s leading receiver in the past two seasons, he enters the 2025 season as day-to-day. Adam Schefter broke the news after images surfaced of Reed in a walking boot. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur remained hush on the severity of his injury.

“It’s unfortunate, but hopefully we’ll get him back before the regular season,” LaFleur said. He added, “Anytime you see a guy in a boot, that’s a concern.”

PrizePicks NFL expert John Supowitz ranks Reed as the WR41 prior to the injury. Reed’s ranking puts him under the likes of Michael Pittman Jr., Deebo Samuel Sr., along with San Francisco 49ers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings.

That could change if he is guaranteed to sit out one or multiple games with his foot injury.

Packers WRs to Replace Jayden Reed

The are a few of the Packers receivers who can fill in for Jayden Reed if he is to miss time. With WR Christian Watson likely to be on the regular season PUP list, we're leaving him off the list.

Romeo Doubs

Romeo Doubs finished fourth on the team in receiving yards last year despite only playing 13 games. Doubs has his own injury history, but a healthy season could result in him filling Reed’s void while he's out. The 2022 4th round pick has 12 touchdowns in his past two seasons, just two shy of Reed’s total.

Ultimately, Doubs is ranked just 15 spots lower than Love’s No. 1 target. With a WR61 ranking, the Packers have always given Doubs his fair share of targets. 2023 marked the only year where he played all 17 games, and it was by far the best season of his career.

Doubs was targeted 96 times and hauled in a career high 8 touchdowns.

However, Doubs won't play the slot role much, as he played just 13.5% of his snaps in the slot in 2024, per PFF.

Matthew Golden

Matthew Golden Fantasy Football Projections

The only Packers receiver ranked higher than Doubs is Matthew Golden. The first-round rookie made the most of his limited time at Lambeau Field on Saturday, August 9. His hands stole the show on a night where numerous Packers receivers dropped the ball, reminiscent of the 2024 season.

Selecting a rookie is always a risk, but Golden’s WR50 ranking puts him in the same tier as Reed, with more upside as a rookie deep threat with the fastest 40-time among WRs at the 2025 NFL Combine.

The sky is the limit for the 5-foot-11, 191-pound receiver if he can immediately earn Love’s trust.

2025 Fantasy Football Projections: 48.5 Receptions, 700.5 Yards, 4.5 TDs
