Just a year removed from reaching the NFC Championship Game, the Washington Commanders had a down season and posted a 5-12 record. Part of that was due to QB Jayden Daniels being limited to seven games with injury.
The team made offseason changes to its offense, including signing star WR Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract. Diggs spent the 2025 campaign with the New England Patriots but was released at the start of the league year in March.
Does the wily veteran wideout still have enough left in the tank to help both fantasy teams and his real-life club? Diggs currently has an ADP of 91 (WR38) in fantasy football, according to FantasyPros.
Ahead of a new season, let's dive into Diggs' PrizePicks NFLSZN projections and discuss why he has the potential to be a fantasy football sleeper in 2026.

Stefon Diggs 2026 Fantasy Football Projections
In 2025, Diggs proved he came back strong from a torn ACL he suffered the previous season with the Houston Texans by registering 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and 4 TDs on 102 targets.
Diggs had five games in which he topped the 100-yard mark, including accomplishing the feat twice over the final three weeks of the regular season. The talented WR also tallied 11.9 yards per catch, which was his highest in the past four years.
While Diggs may not be one of the top WRs in the sport anymore, he's still an extremely productive asset that can help an NFL team, especially if he doesn’t have to be the top option.
Stefon Diggs Projection – 749.5 Rec Yards
Diggs just signed his contract with the Commanders on August 7, so he's just getting a grasp of the offense. As a result, the projection may not be as high as it traditionally would be for a player of his caliber. Still, Diggs can certainly have a shot at playing the sleeper role.
According to PlayerProfiler, Diggs registered a 25.7% target rate a year ago, ranking 18th among qualifying WRs. The star also excelled lining up in the slot, tallying 308 snaps there (15th).
The Commanders went out and acquired WR Deebo Samuel in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers last offseason, but it didn’t end up being a great fit and he returned to the 49ers on a one-year deal in 2026. Aside from WR Terry McLaurin, the Commanders need someone to pick up the slack, and that player may be Diggs.
After all, Diggs has tallied at least 750 receiving yards in nine of his 11 professional seasons. His only times not reaching that mark were his rookie year and his injury-shortened 2024.
Diggs is expected to take the field for the Commanders’ Week 1 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. The talented WR, who starred at nearby Maryland in his collegiate days, registered 12.4 fantasy PPG last season — 21st among WRs. For someone who can be grabbed in the later rounds of fantasy drafts, that’s a bargain.
Stefon Diggs Projection – 4.5 Rec TDs
Diggs fell just short of this projection in 2025 despite playing with MVP runner-up QB Drake Maye on the Patriots. He caught 9 of his 12 red zone targets, though, which ranked just 33rd of all WRs.
From 2017 to 2023, the four-time Pro Bowler caught 6+ TDs in each of those campaigns. Diggs has also tallied double-digit TDs in two seasons. With a healthy Daniels back in the fold, perhaps Diggs could see his targets increase, especially inside the 20-yard line.

Make 2026 NFL Season Picks on PrizePicks
As a member of the Commanders and playing alongside McLaurin, Diggs could see more single coverage opportunities and have more chances to shine in 2026. As a result, he might easily surpass his draft position, making him a fantasy football sleeper candidate in the twilight of his career.
