Dream vs. Tempo Prediction, Spread, Over/Under – Friday, July 17

The Dream made a splash in the offseason by trading away two first-round picks for F Angel Reese. They might be enjoying the return because she’s been a vital contributor, leading the league with 11.8 rebounds per game and averaging a double-double thanks to her 15.3 points per game.

Earlier in the year, they were competing for a higher playoff seeding. They’ve slid recently, losing six of their last eight, including defeats to below-.500 teams Seattle and Portland.

Luckily, they are still in the playoffs as the fifth seed, but the standings are tight. There are six other teams, including their opponent tonight, that are within four games of them.

When the offense is clicking, the Dream are tough to stop, and they’ve scored 100+ points five times. It helps when a team has a group of prolific scorers. Guards Alisha Gray and Rhyne Howard are each in the top 10, averaging 18 PPG.

The inaugural season for the Tempo started off fairly well. They hovered around .550 for the first month, but things have taken a turn for the worse recently, as they have just a 3-9 record over the last 12 games. This nine-game home series is not going well for Toronto, which has lost five of seven. Up next are the defending champion Aces.

It doesn't help that they are missing one of their top stars as G Brittany Sykes, who is averaging 20.1 PPG, suffered a foot injury on June 16. Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello said Sykes is starting to do individual work at practice and hopes to return soon.

This has allowed G Marina Mabrey to lead the team and have a breakout campaign, averaging a career-high 21.0 PPG. She’s been scorching hot recently, scoring 30+ points in four of her last eight.
