Best NCAAF Anytime TD Scorer Predictions – Saturday, September 26

With most of the calendar rolling over into conference games, and several featuring ranked teams going head-to-head, the stakes are ramping up. A loss now could be the difference between making the College Football Playoff and missing it.

With these conference matchups being so important, teams are determined to find the end zone, and this is a great opportunity to find the players who could score.

Anytime TDs on PrizePicks include rushing, receiving, recoveries, and returns. PrizePicks often list Anytime TDs as Demons and Goblins. Wake Forest vs. Louisville Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 12:00 p.m. ET

Louisville QB Lincoln Kienholz: 0.5 Anytime TDs (Goblin)

If Louisville makes the College Football Playoff out of the ACC, they could be an intriguing team to watch. The Cardinals have proven they can compete with the big boys and played a close matchup against the SEC’s Ole Miss in Week 1, losing 41-38 on a last-second field goal.

Last year in the regular season, Louisville beat a Miami team that went on to play in the national championship game, and the Cardinals look better this year.

Louisville is leaning on the run, sitting in the 69th percentile in rush-play percentage (58.0), according to TeamRankings. The Cardinals have been effective in the run game, ranking in the 86th percentile in yards per carry (6.0), with 11 of their 18 offensive TDs coming on the ground.

That starts with QB Lincoln Kienholz, who has established himself as one of the country’s top dual-threat quarterbacks. He enters this Week 4 game vs. Wake Forest ranked 25th in the nation in rushing yards (168) and third in rushing TDs (4). 

Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm and his brother/offensive coordinator, Brian, have built the offense around Kienholz’s legs, as he ranks 14th in the country in rushing yards on designed run plays (132).

This is a great matchup for Kienholz against Wake Forest, which already allowed Miami to rush for 158 rushing yards and a TD, averaging over 5 yards per carry.

The last time the Demon Deacons faced an opponent with a dual-threat quarterback was Week against Akron. In that matchup, Akron QB Cibastian Broughton ran for 82 yards, including 34 on quarterback-designed runs.

The Cardinals could design specific plays to let Kienholz use his mobility, and they trust him to take it around the end zone.

Sam Houston State vs. Texas Tech Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 12:00 p.m. ET

Texas Tech RB Cameron Dickey: 0.5 Anytime TDs (Goblin)

Texas Tech got an early-season test against Houston. It was close for most of the game, and the Cougars had a chance to tie it at the end with a two-point conversion, but Houston QB Connor Weigman was inches short.

For a team that won 11 of its 12 games last season by three possessions, the ride to the Big 12 championship may not be as smooth if it keeps playing these close matchups.

What matters right now is that they're winning, and one way they are doing it is by emphasizing the run. Texas Tech is running the ball more often, increasing its rush-play rate from 52.5% last year to 56.4% this season.

The Red Raiders seem to have an excellent backfield duo featuring the legs of RB Cameron Dickey and RB J’Koby Williams. However, Dickey's chances to score might be higher because of how this game could play out.

Sam Houston State’s run defense has been awful this season, sitting in the 24th percentile in rushing yards allowed per carry (4.6). In contrast, they have been an excellent pass defense, ranking in the 97th percentile in yards allowed per pass attempt (4.1). 

This week vs. Cincinnati could be a game that Texas Tech tries to control on the ground, and with Dickey as the power runner, they may use him more. 

Williams is the Red Raiders’ preferred running back in the passing game, but he may not get many opportunities, given how well the Cincinnati Bearcats defend the pass.

Missouri State vs. SMU Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 9:00 p.m. ET

SMU RB Kendrick Raphael: 1.5 Anytime TDs (Demon)

SMU’s playoff chances took a hit last week after a loss to Louisville. Last year, we saw how little the College Football Playoff committee values the ACC when Duke won the conference championship and didn’t make the College Football Playoff.

SMU has a road matchup against Notre Dame later this year, which could boost its resume and potentially earn an at-large bid, even if it doesn’t win the ACC title.

SMU RB Kendrick Raphael was a major contributor in the effort against Louisville, rushing for 197 yards and 3 TDs — which brought his season total to 4 TDs.

Most importantly, SMU hammered the run with Raphael, as he had 24 carries and 2 receptions. His 8.2 yards per carry were the fourth-best in Week 3 among FBS running backs with at least 15 attempts. 

This could be a get-right game for the Mustangs against Group of Six opponent Missouri State before they return to conference play. They're currently five-touchdown favorites (-34.5) on PrizePicks, which could lead to a lot of ball control, and a lot of runs with the lead.

Missouri State has struggled against the run this season, posting the fifth-worst PFF run defense grade (51.9) and the seventh-most rushing TDs allowed in the country (5). 

Given Raphael has the most rushing attempts between the center and left guard, he could clash with Missouri State DL Tim Brantley Jr., who hasn't done well at stopping the run, ranking in the 39th percentile in PFF run defense grade (62.6).
