Brandon Ingram Injury Update: Is Ingram Playing Tonight vs. Cavaliers?
As of Friday afternoon, Ingram is listed as doubtful on the official NBA injury report.
Ingram played just 11 minutes in Game 5’s 125-120 loss to Cleveland before exiting the contest. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic says the medical team “tried to activate” Ingram’s heel and get him back on the floor, but those attempts were unsuccessful. In all, he scored 1 point on 0-of-2 shooting from the field.
This isn’t the first time Ingram has dealt with a heel ailment. In fact, Rajakovic says it was a reaggravation from weeks ago. Late in the regular season, the heel limited Ingram and even held him out of a few games.
Given that Ingram wasn’t present for the open look portion of Friday morning shootaround, that may not bode well for his evening outlook.
The ninth-year man played in 77 regular-season contests, averaging 21.5 points on 47.7% shooting, including a 38.2% mark from deep.
Although Ingram doesn’t have any PrizePicks projections on the board, there are plenty of others to consider when constructing your Lineups for Friday night.
What Players to Target on PrizePicks if Ingram Is Out?
Should Ingram miss Friday’s pivotal Game 6 against the Cavaliers, what exactly would the Raptors be missing out on?
The scoring punch is obvious, although Toronto may not be as bad off as one would initially expect. During the regular season, via databallr, the team actually fared 5.8 points per 100 possessions worse with Ingram on the court. In the postseason, that number has dropped to a downright ugly 20.3.
Others could be asked to step up in Ingram’s potential absence, but the leader of the team is undoubtedly PF Scottie Barnes. The All-Star forward scores 4.4 more points per 75 in Ingram-less minutes, which could come into play on Friday.
Some of the reps could go to SG/SF RJ Barrett. The former New York Knicks standout experiences a staggering +7.6 jump in plus-minus without Ingram in the same lineup configuration.
Finally, SG Ja’Kobe Walter is someone to keep an eye on. He has two games scoring in double digits this series, including a 20-point effort in Game 5. When Ingram is on the bench, Walter’s true shooting percentage ascends from 54.8% to a sparkling 66.4%.
Here are the Raptors players who may benefit most on PrizePicks if Ingram is out, as well as their stat projections for tonight’s Game 6.
- Scottie Barnes vs. Cavaliers Projections: 21.5 Points / 7.5 Rebounds / 8 Assists
- RJ Barrett vs. Cavaliers Projections: 22.5 Points / 6 Rebounds / 4 Assists
- Ja’Kobe Walter vs. Cavaliers Projections: 10.5 Points / 3.5 Rebounds / 1.5 3-PT Made (Goblin)
Walter’s hike in efficiency is intriguing, but there’s no denying that this is already Barnes’ ship to captain. That could only become even more so the case if Ingram is out.
